78 on Teas

So far I've taken the teas twice, the first time I didn't study at all and scored a 68. The second time I studied for two weeks and scored a 78. I notice that the many people score 80 or higher on this test and now I feel defeated. My gpa is a 3.95 and I would like to attend FAU, UCF, OR USF. Do I have a chance or should I be worried?Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

Hi Chavona, you must live near me if you're considering those schools also! As far as if that score is high enough, I would check their websites and see what grade they require and maybe search the student threads here to see what other USF, UCF, etc students scored when they were accepted. A 78 is an amazing score when you think that the national average is 64. I very rarely hear people getting 80's or higher, usually, the ones that post their scores are the ones that did REALLY well, and average or low scores go unreported.

With a 3.95 GPA, that also factors in, some schools look more at the GPA than the TEAS and vice versa.

A lot of schools don't even use the TEAS, though I know nothing about the schools you mentioned. My TEAS score was higher, but my GPA was lower (3.7) and I got in to 3 different schools. You should be ok, unless it's a school that only looks at TEAS scores.

Depends on your schools reqmts. The ADN programs near me only require 67. The BSN program in my area is competitive and my score of 80 wasn't competitive enough, even with a 3.6 GPA.

So instead of repeating it, I elected to apply to the ADN programs.
