i went to school in georgia but my permanent residency is in california. i keep getting different feedback that i should take my test here and then pay the extra money to get my california license as opposed to just going back to california and just taking it there.. any opinions on this?

Hi MissE,
It doesn't matter where you take the NCLEX: all PearsonVue centers are the same. Since your permanent residency is CA, you should apply to their BON and get your license through them. That being said, if you're still in GA then pay the $200 fee to PearsonVue and take the test in GA...the results are automatically sent to whichever BON you applied to. Hope this helps.

Hi missE, it's easy to take under California Board of Nursing then after u pass the test just endorsed it to Georgia Board of Nursing. For that, u will be registered in 2 states..
Below is there website, u can find information regarding the appropriate fees and all the requirements to take the test.
http://www.rn.ca.gov/
and the endorsement information will be found of Georgia's BRN site...
as to location, it doesn't matter where you take the test, PearsonVeu is linked worldwide. You can take the test on Georgia even if you applied in CA BRN and vice versa. It's on what BRN you applied that matters.
hope it helps. goodluck to you...

The main question is where are you planning on working and living when you graduate?
If staying in Georgia then apply to the Georgia BON however if you are planning on returning to CA and work then probably better to apply direct to the BRN

You can take the test anywhere. You will want to send the results to the state where you have applied for a license. That would logically be the state where you will be living and working.
I plan on returning to CA and working there. Thank you for the advice! I will look at that website too!! :redbeathe

Oh my goodness, I'm going to be in the same situation in a year. Thanks for posting the question. I was wondering the same thing!
