Swollen Lymph Node?????

Published

I know that you cannot make a diagnosis, but I need an opinion of wether or not I should see a doctor or be alarmed. I have been feeling pretty bad the past few weeks (cold symptoms, tired, achey) and last night I noticed that my underarm was very sore. This morning it was still sore and hurts to touch it. I can't really feel anything, except for a hard spot. Could this just be a swollen lymph node, if so what causes it? Should I be concerned and see a doctore immediately?

deffo get it checked out....... make sure it aint owt nasty....

hope it all goes well

While it may not be anything serious you should get it looked at if you have been feeling ill. You very well could have mono or a nasty sinus/resp. infection brewing. Or, it may even be an ingrown hair.

My junior year of college I had swollen lymph glands, mostly in my neck, for about two weeks even though I didn't have symptoms. Then all of a sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks - extreme fatigue, sore throat, runny nose, fever, etc. I had mono. I was lucky though and with some steroids got over it pretty quickly.

Take care and try not to worry, just get in to see a Dr. before whatever it is gets worse.

I just went to my doctor for the same thing, swollen node under my jaw. I got a hefty sinus infection (silly me I thought I had a cold for 3 weeks) and a dose of antibiotics. He also ran a culture for strep, even though my throat doesn't hurt too much. See your doctor. I am not sure if this sort of thing goes away on its own.

Hope you feel better.

Thanks for all the info. It doesnt hurt today, but the ones around my neck are quite swollen too now. It might just be a sinus infection since my head has been hurting really bad. I'm prone to chronic sinus infections anyways. I usually get from 2-6 in a year. I'm going to run by the doc today or Monday to get checked out. Just what I need, to be sick and have a huge pile of anatomy to study :(

Thanks,

Laura

Swollen lymph glands could mean anything from a cold virus to Bubonic plague (which I have seen in 5 yr old).I would get it checked out just in case you need to watch for other SX, etc. Hope you are better soon.
