Switching to Research

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone had any tips that helped them switch from a clinical nurse to being in research. I have 3 years of experience in the OR, but really want to make the switch into research. However, with no research experience it has been a slow process. I have been applying for jobs (Clinical Trials Assistant, Clinical Research Coordinator, etc.) with no luck. Not even an email back ? I live in the Raleigh-Durham area, so while there are plenty of research companies and hospitals, there are also plenty of applicants for these jobs. If anyone has any feedback/advice I would love it!

Thanks!

I literally just got a job in research at Duke. I have been in the OR for 12 years. Just keep applying!

What kind of job did you get at Duke? Is it nurse position or clinical research associate?

It's a nursing position.

Hi DeLynn,

What do you love about your new research role? How is the stress level in comparison to the OR? I’m about to leave the OR after 5 years for a research position too and just wanted to know your input. Thanks

Do you like it? What do you do? Considering being a research coordinator nurse.
