Supplies....what did you have to get for school ?

I am still playing the waiting game...I have not been accepted into nursing school, (yet, hopefully) :) but I was wondering what kinds of supplies did yall have to get? Just trying to get an idea.

Thanks so much!

The same things you always get for school: binders, paper, note cards, pens, pencils, hi-lighters, etc...

I purchased a manual bp monitor (to practice bp), pen light, an lpn pdq (highly recommended for clinicals), a set of ATI books which was mandatory for my school, and a stethescope ( cheap one in the beginning) & a good one after graduation. Good Luck!

scrubs, scrub jacket, stethescope ( I dove in with a $200 Littman, LOVE it), penlight, book light, RNotes, bandage sicissors, hemastats, nursing bag from the bookstore with many goodies, a humble positive caring attitude, and,... oh yeah, and about $1200 in books

Most important supply? A strong study group that is just slightly over your head, this way they will keep you learning and challanged.

I hope you get that seat, nursing school is a blast and I have learned so much!

So Here is what is working for me:

Binders, loose leaf paper, dividers, highlighters, TONS of flash cards, black pens, sticky notes, a planner, pencils, hand sanitizer, lysol wipes, tic tacs, a water bottle, a rolling book bag, a medium sized canvas bag (I'd advise you leave your purse at home), a bp cuff, a pen light, a stethoscope (Littman Classic II is great for the needs of a PN, cost about $85, have your name engraved on the steth so no one can steal it), good thick socks (not the cute little ankle cut ones but at least the crew type), a pair of nonskid sneakers with arch support, comfy undergarments in nude so they don't show through your scrubs, a LOUD alarm clock (lol), a good exercise DVD that you can do at least 3 times a week, a multivitamin, and a prayer ;)...

If this is something you are passionate about, you're gonna love it! Make the time to study everyday and don't neglect your own health. You can give your best when you feel your best.

Good luck!

Thanks so much, everyone. I'm really excited about all this and hoping for the best. My interview is next Thursday. However, complete applications aren't due until early May....so the waiting game will be tough, but I am not going to stress about it. (I get no where when I stress) My brother told me one time that worrying is like a rocking chair, you can do it all day long but it still won't get you anywhere.

The input from yall has been wonderful. I just wanted to get an idea about everything.

Have a great day everyone!:D

I love that lil saying with the rocking chair... Definitely going to use that!! I worry/stress way too much!
