Hello!
I just joined this forum although I have read many posts before today while google-ingthings about nursing school etc. My summer classes start next, I am taking A&P and Med Term for the summer. I just got my books in the mail yesterday and wanted to start studying to get a leg up. I've started reading through the first chapter of my A&P book and quizzing myself with some of the in chapter questions. I plan to do the same thing with my Med Term book as well I just haven't started yet.
Any other suggestions of pre-class studying I should do other than reading? Should I start doing the "activities" in the study guide/on the CD that was included with my book, or would I be better off to save those for when we are covering those topics in lectures?

Can you get a hold of the syllabus ahead of time? That's what I would do. Then I would study the topics on the syllabus, and take notes as I read through the chapters.

I start a&p in the fall and I have been pre-studying. I have heard of students getting their books early and studying the first few chapters to only find out that the teacher skipped those chapters. It is better to learn stuff you know will be in a&p 1 like tissues, bones, muscles and basics of the systems, but do not go into too much detail because you will find out what is really important to focus on in the class. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!

I'm taking an accelerated A&P course this summer, 5 weeks! I have 5 weeks until class so I'm going to go over the chapters in advance and do my best to memorize at least the skeletal and muscular systems. My teacher said we will be going over the first 12 chapters so that's what I will be doing!

At my college when you get enrolled it tells you your professor then on our college website we can look up our professor and email them or find their office and phone number. I would get a syllabus ahead of time. Then you can get used to the words. Some will blow your mind. All my A&P classes we used the same book for both classes, but they pulled out the most important stuff, and that is what we needed to study. That would be your best bet. Good luck.
