stethoscopes

I am looking into buying a new stethoscope. I have the littman lightweight, but I have trouble hearing with it. Any suggestions?

I have high frequency hearing loss from a previous job and have trouble with BP's

Sunfire, I agree about those lightwieght Littman's! I have a Littman Classic II though and honest to God, it makes those lightweights look a a Fisher Price doctor kit toy! I don't know exactly how much they are going for now, or even here in the US but mine was about $150, 6 years ago, but it was worth every penny!

I have had a few different stethescopes. One Sprague-style that I liked was cheap. I still use it for auscultating my horses and dogs. Now that I am older (read don't hear as well as I used to), I spent more money and got a Littman Master Cardiology, and I love it!! I can hear really well, and my assessments go faster because I don't spend time listening again to be sure about what I heard. I got it through the internet and paid about $130. My advice is to borrow from people & listen with different scopes & get the best you can afford at the time.

HEY, I JUST PURCHASED THE "NEW" ULTRASCOPE STETH......I LOVE IT, I HAVE BEEN IN NURSING FOR 11 YEARS AND WHEN I FOUND ABOUT THIS ONE, I HAD TO CHECK IT OUT. IT WAS DESIGNED BY A NURSE, SO IT HAS BETTER FREQUENCY ETC.ETC.ETC. ANYWAY, IT IS DEFINATELY LIGHTWEIGHT, AND COMES IN A HUGE ASSORTMENT OF TUBING COLORS AND BELL DESIGNS.....YOU CAN CHECK IT OUT AT --ULTRASCOPE.COM

HOPE IT HELPS, AND IF SO.....HOPE YOU ENJOY.

I have a significant hearing loss in both ears, so back when I was a nursing student, I purchased an amplified Littman. It uses a hearing aid battery, and enables me to hear even very faint BP's and respiratory sounds. I've often had other nurses begging to borrow it when they had a patient with a very low BP. It cost about $300 Canadian, but was well worth it.

Can anyone tell me if or what the difference is between a Littmann Master Classic and a Classic II?
