Stethoscopes

Do I need a special or high-dollar stethoscope for the ICU? What is your favorite?

I love my DRG. The only thing is not to use the anti microbial cover. They get air in them that back up into you ears . Stick with the reg diaphragm covers. they run about 120. So far it is the best stethoscope I have had

I hear there are some really nice expensive stethoscopes available out there, a co-worker of mine has one with a doppler attachment. i wanted to replace my master cardiology, because of too much ambient noise. Most stethoscope sites I found compared their product to the Littman Cardiology III. so i bought it. Wish i had gotten it from someone who did engraving. Wherever I go (I'm a travel nurse) everyone seems to have the same one. I love it. I couild also agree with papawjohn, my sprauge, which I got for nursing school for $12, works almost as well but it is cumbersome with the heavy dual head on one end and super-light tubes at the other end. To each his own.
