Stethoscope Suggestions

I am nearing the end of the theory portion of a nurse refresher course. I'll start clinicals in a few weeks, and need suggestions on moderately priced stethoscopes.

Clinicals will involve only adult med/surg patients, a population I haven't worked with since school over 20 years ago. I will most likely work part-time in a peds setting upon completing this course, so I don't want to spend a ton of money on a stethoscope for clinicals that won't be useful to me afterward.

Can anyone recommend a moderately priced (under $100) stethoscope that will be sufficient for adult clinicals, and still be useful for a pediatric setting?

Thanks!

Try Ebay. I use a Detian Cardiology3 scope which is pretty quality and only $35. The quality is comparable to a Littman but the reason they are 1/3-1/2 the price is that they are made in China. You could buy a Detian adult scope for $35 and a peds one for $30. The only drawback that I have with the scope is that like all Cardiology scopes they are a bit heavy.

Very interesting that it comes with a hammer. I've yet to hit anyone in order to listen to them.

For work (I do mother/baby, hence adults & peds), I have a double-belled Sprague that I can detect pretty much anything with. I got it for about $20, but like many other say about Spragues, it's HEAVY.

I like my Littmann Select, but I got an ADC 603 at Galls.com for under $30. Lots of the girls I work with use the Littmann Lightweight (egg-shaped/ovoid head) and they love theirs for weight and quality.
