Sep 11, 201510 yr Hopefully someone here can help guide me in the right direction because I am beyond lost lol. I start my Ipn program October 5th and I just found out that a stethoscope and bp cuff are not included in my tuition. I was told that I should invest in a quality stethoscope but I have no clue as to what I should be looking for as far as brand, price and whatever other factors I should consider. Also any advice on where to purchase a bp cuff would also be greatly appreciated. I hope to hear from you all, thanks:)
Sep 11, 201510 yr Author Thanks I'll definitely a google search and maybe look around amazon to see what I can find for that brand.
Sep 12, 201510 yr I get all of my stuff from allheart.com they're my favorite website, most of their BP cuffs come with a matching stethoscope too and they're pretty decent! Plus I could get a hot pink set....decision made right there lol
Sep 12, 201510 yr I ordered my stethoscope from all heart however your local uniform store should supply blood pressure cuffs. I know here in Michigan a lot if the uniform stores only carry the dual tube stethoscope which I had for a while before nursing school but it was very heavy so I wouldn't suggest that one.
Sep 12, 201510 yr All heart.com is a good site....however I found my lightweight littman stethoscope from medisave.net...their prices are amazing. I found tht site from a poster here on all nurses.
Sep 12, 201510 yr i use steeles.com for mine, i saved a good amount on their site vs in store, and they offer engraving
Sep 12, 201510 yr Author Thanks everyone for the help. I honestly didn't expect more than a couple of replies so this really helps alot.
Sep 12, 201510 yr Author I think I'll go with allheart.com for my nursing needs. They seem to be the best as far as price goes.
Sep 13, 201510 yr My mom's a nurse and when I started nursing school, she insisted I get "nothing but a Littmann stethoscope," and I'm in love with mine. I ended up with the Classic III. I think as long as you have a quality stethoscope, you can use any cuff. A stethoscope is where you want your quality at. You won't regret splurging on a nice one. (I got mine at allheart.com.)
Sep 23, 201510 yr Hi! I would definitely recommend checking out allheart.com, as someone earlier suggested. I purchased my Littmann Classic II stethoscope and my BP cuff from them, as well as some other items, and their services are phenomenal. Many of my classmates also ordered a stethoscope/BP cuff combo from Amazon and they say those work well also. If you are looking for a quality stethoscope, Littmann is the way to go, but it is by no means the be-all and end-all of stethoscopes, so if you don't have the funds there are other brands to choose from! My Classic II was around $65 on sale and allheart runs sales pretty frequently. There is a cheaper Littmann called the Lightweight, which is $50 regularly and is nice as well. Hope this helps, and happy stethoscope hunting!
Oct 7, 201510 yr Yes to Littman. Yes to Allheart. Or Amazon. My Littman got me through LVN school, LVN work and is still going strong thru RN school. I replaced the tubing at one point for a nominal price because I spilled ink on it. But it never has given me problems. I can hear very well with it!
