statistics!!

All I can say is, "I feel your pain!" I cried at least once a week when I took stats and couldn't WAIT to get done with it. I just don't think that way. Period.

Stats is torture!

Its my last RN pre-req, this is the second time I've taken it. The first time I got completely overwhelmed during a summer session and withdrew. I just want to pass this time. Luckily our prof gives us extra credit assignments and tests are open book. But jeez, its still damn hard and makes no sense to me.

Now ask me when I will ever use a probability formula? Or need to know the area inside a bell curve. Puhlease!!

It is!!

Mine, I guess you can say it's open book since it's an online course--- but the way the questions are worded, they are definitely not clear as to what the definition of the book is.

I have the midterm next saturday, I am studying EVERY day this week.

Once I got into a nursing research course, I realize why they require stats. But I still think it was overkill for what we need to do, unless we're actually planning to go into research ourselves.

We do need to be able to look at scientific studies and evaluate them critically; to do so, we need a working knowledge of stats. I get the principle -- how you gonna change your practice based on evidence if you don't know how to evaluate the evidence? But...it was painful.

Incidentally, I can tell the students in my class who really understand stats and enjoyed that course -- they can answer all the questions!

Glad NS doesn't require us to take Calculus, then I think we'd have a legit concern to complain, yes I know OP is not complaining. Statistics is by far one of the "easiest" math classes they make us take. And as the above poster commented, you use it for interpreting research articles that are heavy on the data using graphs and all that good fun stuff. Good luck on your tests btw!

I took stats last semester, I managed to get an A but it was tricky sometimes. It was the second time I took it, I took it freshman year and completely failed it. Having it for a second time did help a little but not much because the first class was at a different school, it was completely different. I'm naturally good at Math though, so I think that's why I did so well. It did get more tough when we got near the end of the semester. I wanted to shoot whoever came up with the idea of a regression line -_- lol I was glad the final was cumulative.

Only me and one other guy in my class got an A and we had the "easiest" math professor. A lot of people struggled with the class. I agree it's not as hard as calculus but it can still be pretty tough and confusing for people with all of the formulas.
