I finished 3 semesters of nursing school and had to take my 4th semester off due to financial difficulties. I have now been out out of the program for 2 full semesters and am wanting to return. My school is wanting me to take an exam to see if I can be readmitted ..if I pass I can start at 3rd semester (I've already passed 3rd....) if I fail I have to start at semester 1 again..
My options are return to this school (ADN) for possibly another 1-2 years to get my ADN after already spending 3 semesters there OR there is an accelerated BSN program an hour from my house...I would have to start over from scratch there..but its only 12 months and I come out with a BSN. It is very $$ though 38,000 for the 12 months...I'm already have 15000 in student loans. I'm also a mom of 3 small kids so the ABSN is going to be rough.
I'm leaning towards the ABSN but wanted to see what others think.

I'd say if you fail the exam, go to the ABSN route. if you pass the exam, finish up that program

Agree with krisiepoo on this one. And study hard for that exam. The sooner you get a license and are working, the sooner you can make better plans for your future, to include education. Best wishes.

If it were me I'd stick with the same school. Yes you may have to start over, but you already know all the material so it may be easier on you the second time around.
Thanks everyone!

I'm with @krisiepoo. If you fail the exam, go the ABSN route. See if you can find a job that has a loan reimbursement program (does anyone do that anymore??).
Good luck!

Hey,
if you don't mind me asking..
what state are you from? and what kind of program is that ABSN? Do you need a BS degree already?
Thank you!
