Stalling to take NCLEX

Published

i know that is not the thing to do. What happened was i had a death in the family while i was taking the HESI and i wound up with so many things to do with noone to help and i had my grief to deal with. ive started classes to get my degree now too. So that is why things are so behind. Also, i am feeling so unmotivated but i still want to work as an LPN. With each passing day, i know it will be harder to get myself motivated. I found out that once you get fingerprinted you have 6 months to take the NCLEX otherwise you have to go thru the whole fingerprint process again. So im stalling with that too. I want to pass the NCLEX when i take it.

Is there anyone else that has stalled in taking the NCLEX. I know RNs do this or people i know have but any LPNs?

Im going to try to do practice questions each day and read as well daily no matter what. It stinks that my program did not give us any pharmocology so i need to study that on my own to. I really look forward to the day im working as an LPN. :monkeydance:

My pharmacology course was a complete disaster, so, I understand your frustration. Helen Feuer : http://www.f-n-r.net/ sells an excellent pharmacology CD set that helped me somewhat with NCLEX. Consider that option. They also have review CDs for LPN and RN NCLEX. Good luck!

Thanks for answering and suggesting the LPN help aids. I think that the course was so intense, im burnt out. The other issues i had dont help either (grief).

I feel a little spark which means my fire is coming back. Im wondering though, has anyone else stalled in taking the NCLEX???? I know i cant be the only one, would like to hear

My teachers recommend that we take the test as soon as we feel ready & not put it off. Studies have shown that the longer you wait the more likely you'll fail.

Don't know if it's true but someone recently told me they read a study that the longer between graduation and NCLEX the higher the failure rate.

thanks Tweety, i couldnt have concentrated anyway since my spouse passed away. Im only recently starting to come out of the fog. Im only human.

It's understandable how you're feeling. My sincere condolences. I'm glad the fog is lifting. I realize I was being a bit curt and came across as insensitive to your loss.

What would he say if he could he could? Probably tell you to get on with it already!

Darlin', I waited nine years to take the boards. I was going through a very nasty divorce at the time I finished nursing school. And eventually, all those years went by and I never took it. I took it finally this past January and passed after six weeks of very concentrated studying. You have to believe in yourself and take it when you are ready. You may be a little burnt out. Nothing wrong with giving yourself some time off...but come right back to it. Don't let years go by like I did.

I took it ASAP after graduating and spent about 10 hours total studying for it. I passed with 85 questions and was able to get a job before some of my former classmates had even taken the test. I recommend that you take it as soon as you reasonably believe that you will pass.
