Well I'm interested in knowing too. So when you find out keep us posted. I'd like to know about St.Johns period. How good they are and their pay, if you don't mind sharing. Good Luck!!

Providence Hospital is actually located in Southfield, right on 9 Mile Road. They have a very active Emergency Dept because of its location. They do open heart surgery there, as well as all types of neuro-surgical cases. I have worked in all of their ICU units, as well as their OR and PACU....and enjoyed my time there..............
How much do they start their new nurses???

I worked there as a nurse extern a few years ago. I liked it b/c most of the nurses were very pleasant--they appreciated any help they could get, with 7-8 patients on day and afternoon shifts on med-surg. I didn't deal with docs much at all in that role, which was just as well since I got the impression that many of them were highly unpleasant to the RNs. I left there in part because Providence has/had major problems getting reasonable pain management practices in place. When I worked there a few years ago, standard post-op pain med orders were for 50-75 mg of Demerol IM with Vistaril, also IM, Q4-6hrs. It frequently didn't work, but who cared. If you're interested, PM me . . .
St. John's and Providence are two separate hospitals. St. Johns is on Moross on the East Side, Providence is just north of Northland Center.........
Both are excellent teaching hospitals and I have never had a problem with a physician at either...........never the attendings, rare resident issue only.

As a nursing student I spent a little bit of time at Providence, it was pretty good. (Currently an RN now working at Harper Hospital,) I did the ICCU/ICSU and mother baby and L/D there. Loved every unit, the nurses were quite helpful and the doc's were all pretty nice too. I also like that it is a teaching hospital, they tend to be a little more on the up side of technology and receptive and helpful to learners, new grads, etc. Good luck on your interview.
