Hello everyone,
I am a SRCOSTEP candidate for BOP, now awaiting for an phone interview with the PHS. I just wanted to find out what are the chances of being selected after going through the interview and UA physical from the BOP. I just finished filling out E-quip. Does it mean I am pretty much "IN"? How is the interview with the PHS like?
Thanks in advance.

HM2nurse,
I am in the same boat as you. As far as I know, I just have to do the board interview over the phone and wait to hear back about the background checks. I think at this point we are more "IN" than "OUT". Unless we bomb the phone interview or flat out lied on the e-quip we are in. Are you applying as a nurse or NP?
Hello jasonmstone82! Yeah I think so too. I mean they wouldn't spend all that time and money for the security check, if they are not "seriously considering" us, right? I am just worried because I had a couple of issues with my BOP interview which I provided explanation for. But I guess the ball is still moving forward even after that.
I am applying for a nurse position. you?
I wonder if there's anyone here that has gone through the whole process, so they could provide some clarity to the timeline. I am so eager to get commissioned, but it seems like this is such a long drawn out process.
I have found phschat.com to be helpful. Just explore the forums and you will find some stuff. Its not the most active forum but I have found it helpful. I am applying as a NP.

Hi guys, I am also in the same boat as you guys. are you cleared for medical, background and professional board yet?
As far as I know I have been cleared for everything. But more than likely won't be called to active duty until Aug when my final school year begins.

I just found out of this program. I will graduate in May 2015 with my BSN. I want to further my education and become a NP. What is the process in order to apply? I see that the application period is currently closed. Does anyone know when they will be open again?
lharvick,
Last year the JRCOSTEP and SRCOSTEP applications opened around Sept/Oct and closed early December. You are going to have to just keep looking for updates on usphs.gov or their Facebook page to see when they are accepting applications again.

Hello,
I have read some post about the USPHS and was wondering if you could answer a question. I have submitted paperwork for the USPHS and have been told to expect an interview at the beginning of the year. Do you know what this interview will be like for the application process?

I have also been contacted early December about being tentatively selected. Was asked to send in my fall transcript as soon as I can and wait for official announcements this month. Any insight to the timeline of the process will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I am in the same boat. My BSN program is accelerated (will take 16 months to complete) and I just started on 1/5/15. Last month I got a call from someone and they asked for a school schedule or financial aid letter to verify since I am essentially in my last year of school but don't have transcripts yet. I was told that an email would be sent out in January advising us on the next steps...I am hoping to hear something by next week? The wait is killing me! If you hear something before me, please update the thread!! Good luck to you!
I haven't heard anything... starting to think I got dropped lol. Time for a back up plan =/
