Help, I am a senior nursing student trying to complete my OB rotation, and I need help! I am really having a hard time with coming up with appropiate NANDA nursing diagnosis for normal healthy infants. I would greatly appreciate any help and advice you experieced OB nurses have that are familiar with NANDA,NOC, and NIC. Thanks ahead of time, I know you guys will come through for me!

Just finished my OB rotation. Healthy newborns won't have many diagnoses, mostly risk fors. Here are some we have used:

My old OB text had pull-out careplans in it. I am surprised yours was not more helpful. Anyhow good luck!

Here are some we have used:Readiness for enhanced parenting r/t bonding and attachment amb parents attentiveness and cuddling of childReadiness for enhanced nutrition r/t infant's viability outside mother's womb amb baby's rooting, suckling and swallowing soundsEffective breastfeeding r/t infant's successful latching on and positioning amb baby's swallowing sounds and wet and dirty diapers every three hoursRisk for infection r/t inadequate acquired immunityRisk for hyperthermia r/t depleted sources of subcutaneous fatRisk for suffocation r/t reduced motor abilitiesRisk for aspiration r/t depressed cough/gag reflexRisk for sudden infant death syndrome r/t presence of risk factors such as sleeping in prone position, loose articles in sleep environment and infant overheatingRisk for delayed development r/t affect of racial/ethnic differences between mother of Hispanic origin and American fatherRisk for impaired parent/infant/child attachment r/t anxiety associated with new father's roleGood luck.
