So sad

:crying2: Well, I took my first Medsurg test, and I failed it big time. I am feeling sad, discouraged, mad at myself. I just can't believe I didn't even come close to passing it. I just basically feel like a train ran over me. I feel like I'm dumb because alot of my classmates passed. I know that I should get back up but it's hard to bring myself up from this kind of fall. I'ts like I am not good enough. Well thanks for reading this depressing post.

Well, first of all don't feel like your dumb....fact is your IN the nursing program so you obviously are NOT dumb. Re-evaluate how you studied to learn the material, talk to some of your other classmates who passed; ask them for some study tips on this particular section, talk with the instructor; possibly go over the test, find your weaknesses in that subject area if any. Go for tutoring. Are you able to re-take this test? If not, YOU WILL do better on the next one! One step back, three steps forward! When you fall; get UP, dust off, and take off running; head up, eyes forward with the determination and hard work that it took for you to get into this program! ;) YOU will succeed, with your eye on the prize - :nurse: !

The one thing I HAVE learned throughout this process is......IT IS ONLY ONE test, and it is not uncommon to do badly one the FIRST test in any course. Give yourself a break and get ready for the next challenge. It is counterproductive and very damaging to continue to beat yourself up over this! GET BACK ON THE HORSE....AND RIDE GIRL!!!!:yeah:

Don't waste any more time feeling sad. Get mad enough to do something about it. Immediately, if not sooner, get an appointment with your instructor and hash this out. Find out how to study and eliminate whatever it is that you are doing wrong. Get with a tutor, a study group. Find extra material online. Devise a better study schedule. Do whatever the instructor advises and whatever it takes. You don't have a choice in the matter. Good luck.

You cannot study for nursing tests the same way you have for any other test in your life.

Make sure your focus isn't so much "what is it?" but, really, "whatcha gonna do about, Nurse?"

Also, I take practice tests on the material we are learning BEFORE I even start studying for it. You will be surprised by what you may already know and what just makes sense. You can then see what areas you don't need to waste as much time on and which areas you should focus.

Take a practice test everyday to learn the info and to learn how to take the tests.

If your text comes with a workbook, use it.

Find your texts on the Evolve website and utilize what resources are offered there. Some exam questions you will have may be found here!

Make sure you understand how to pick your best answer... get help NOW if you are uncertain.

Good luck!

Get Saunders NCLEX book and do the sections that you are studying in class, taking the test questions for sure!! It will really help you succeed.

Another good one is Med Surge Test Success. Doing practice questions is the key.

Yes, not in pre-req's but since starting nursing school it seems I do worst on my first tests then I always do better :) Hang in there I know my first test in nursing school I thought I great then got home and just passed and I actually cried tehn teh next day at school everyone was in the hallways saying they got A's and I felt so dumb but I know I'm not and ended up doing well and I'm sure you will too :)

keep up the momentum and continue to strive towards your goal.

Well nursing school is not supposed to be easy, but don't be so hard on yourself. But definitley ask for help before the next test. Get into a study group and read all the material that is to be on the test. A great idea already suggested is to buy Saunders book to review before a test. Good luck to you, you will make it.

Accept it and move on!! No one expects you to be perfect on your first nsg test! They are hard and different from any other kind of test. Learn what you missed, meet with your teacher and see if they can offer any help and study different next time. You can do it! Dont stay sad and discouraged for too long, you've got work to do C: Good Luck!
