I'm slow at everything, and I said before that I have a reading comprehension problem because I can read, but don't understand what i read and have to reread a sentence over 5 times Just to understand it!! So much time wasted right... If I have to do 500+ pages of studying and reading per week in college or nursing school I won't make it... I am so unorganized, because I start studying right after a lecture, and even though i started early, by the Time I'm finished, My friends are finished with 2 classes of studying and get A's They study for only 3-4 hours for each class and get 100% on the tests! I study 8 hours for one class and end up getting a C!!
Help im gonna fail life! Am I studying wrong?? Even if I have a reading problem it shouldn't take me this long! If that is the case, someone help me figure out how I should study. I think I don't know how!

You need to go to the Learning Center and bring this up with them so that they can help you with your reading problem. I had a friend who also had a reading problem and for exams was allowed more time b/c of it. Perfectly fair since it is a problem and not just her being lazy. Speak with your professors as well and let them know so that they can work with you. :-)

Don't beat yourself up too bad. You won't fail life even if you don't go to nursing school. You probably just learn quicker other ways, like with videos, live demos, hands on, etc. Testing anxiety got me sometimes. You can request a private carroll to sit in to take your test at some schools. I believe it was the learning center who helped me with that.

do you learn better by listening? You could always record yourself reading the text, and listen to what you are saying.

you may be causing yourself anxiety by comparing yourself to others. it is hard to learn something new if your anxiety is too high.
dont beat yourself up. you might be shocked to learn how many people claim they spend little to no time time studying but really do.

I highly recommend going to the learning center of your school. Everyone learns differently. They may be able to help you find the best way for you to learn. Some people are visual learners, others are auditory learners, others are hands-on.
Reading a chapter from beginning to end was a waste of time for me. I could barely grasp the main idea. This is something I struggled with since elementary school.
I have a reading comprehension challenge similar to what you describe. I found taking copious notes in class, then rewritting the information on note cards was what helped me grasp the material. I carried the note cards with me at all times and looked at them every chance I got - even waiting in line, filling my gas tank, at red lights. I found that writing the note cards is how I learned most of the information. Something about hand writing made the brain connection for me.
