SJSU BSN program Spring 2022

Hey guys! I am creating this forum for students applying to the Spring 2022 BSN program at SJSU. I wanted a place where we can ask each other questions!

Do you guys know what the pre-WST self test is? I have not done it and now I'm concerned.

I think I did it in the link below. You shouldn't be concerned at all LOL, I think it's just answering a few questions and submitting one of your best essays from a college English class.

Does it need to be done before applying for the program? Or do I wait until I actually get accepted, then do it? I'm not understanding what they want from what is said on the slides. Unfortunately I don't have any essays from my English class as it was taken 17 years ago.

I would do it before applying just to be safe. You need the WST to be completed in order to do the upper-division GE in the first semester of nursing. I did it already because I'm taking an upper GE this semester, so I'm not sure what it says on the slides. If you have any writing at all that showcases your ability to write a college-level essay, I think that would be okay as well? I can look back on the forms for you to see what you need if you want. ?

I took the WST like... 15 years ago at SJSU. Does that still count, I wonder?

Is the score still on your mySJSU portal? You can check your score by going to My Academics and then CSU campus page.

Thanks so much. I just checked. It says I got a 9, which is eligible to enroll for a 100W course.

Sweet baby Jesus. I have a 3.9 in pre-reqs and 92.7%. Really hoping I get in. I think Spring is less competitive?

I am pretty positive you will get in with those stats!

If you are a prior bacc I don't think you need to do anything with the WST

Also on slide 32 it says this about the WST: "image.thumb.png.11c33c07e16787fdf7289213e01718f1.png-Nursing is NO longer requiring WST Exam-     as of May 2020- as you take equivalent area Z (NURS 100We, once you do get admitted to Nursing"

I believe there are newer slides from this month, and they mention taking WST self-placement. I am good since I took the WST years and years ago.

Hey guys! My impacted score is 6.3 it’s really low compared to everyone’s … what do you guys think?? Have you ever met someone with a low score getting in
