I'm having some difficulty deciding among NJ Practitioner programs, some are very costly and I've heard negative comments about certain schools. Currently looking at FDU, StPeters, UMDNJ, WmPaterson and even Dominican (Rockland NY). I'd appreciate any comments as to your experiences with any of these programs either ANP or FNP, their instructors, any support in locating clinical placements, and overall satisfaction/dissatisfaction with your NP program. Thank you!

I went to FDU for my post masters NP. I did well and passed my test but the school has its issues. I was held up taking the test because the incompetence and now my license for the same reason. They changed things while students were in the midst of the program making it very stressful. I am just glad to be done!

Thank you for the feedback I was seriously considering FDU, but I know nothing about them. What about UMDNJ. I heard there's a lot of disorganization with them. I applied there, but decided to hold off off going until next year. So please let us know about these programs.
Sorry they're hanging you up like that. I had heard that FDU is not very organized and do not really support the student through practicums. Something I need to consider since I'll be returning to school (have BSN) for the MSN after many, many years.
Good Luck...hope you get resolution soon. Thanks!
To NJnewRN,
I called UMDNJ...they are eliminating the 2 year MSN. The deadline for the last fall admission is 06/01/13. Saint Peters is still offering the Adult NP, but that national cert exam will be retired in 2014 according to UMDNJ website, so not sure if it makes sense to enter that school. Not enough time to get through the program and take the exam to be board cert'd. Hopefully they will soon offer the FNP.
What other schools have you checked out? Any rising to the top?
Actually, UMDNJ leaves it up to the students to find their own preceptors. I looked in Felician College, but can't afford their tuition.
FDU requires you to find your own preceptor as well.

Hello Pondering,
I was currently looking at the St. Peter's Adult NP program, are you saying that if a student graduates from their current program, they can't sit for a state exam? I made sure they are certified by a national body. Please let me know.
