Seeking Fall 2020 Pediatric Preceptor

Hello,

As if things weren't difficult before COVID-19, it's tougher now to find preceptors. I am a GWU FNP student and not having any luck after contacting 50+ offices (started before the virus). Does anyone know of any Pediatric NPs/MDs/DOs willing to take a student this August? I live in northern VA, but willing to travel up to 2 hours away in VA and in MD.

Thank you!

Good luck!

See if you have an Area Health Education Center (AHEC) regional office somewhere around you. I called a minimum of one provider/office every day for four months, and finally when I just happened to call an AHEC office (because I was calling anybody and everybody), they have been incredibly helpful, and landed my pediatric preceptor easily.

I thought the CCNE passed a law that schools are required to provide clinical sites to students?

Hello,

I appreciate all the advice. I joined organizations months ago.

I didn't know about the above. Thank you for the information, Rebelution!

I believe the CCNE did pass the standard, but it is unenforced(?). My program tries to assist students, but the burden is on us to find preceptors.

It is tough out there. I gave in and found a preceptor through an agency. They charge $$$ and it hurts to pay, but I am not willing to push my graduation a semester in order to find someone who is willing to precept for free. I will just work extra shifts at work to make up the cost. I hope others have better luck than me.

WOW!! thank you for the update, I am in the same boat. I guess I would also use the agency I found.
