Second degree RN program

Published

I have a BA in psychology and am looking to go back from my RN. Does anyone know where I can do this? I've seen a few programs for second degree bsn programs. Can I just go for an associates? My community college offers an associates in nursing. I'm not sure how to go about this. Can anyone help??

Thanks!

hey!

what community college by you offers an associates? im actually a psychology major myself.. im graduating this december and looking to go into a nursing program as well, possibly at CLC in grayslake.

i've been looking at accelerated nursing programs as well. loyola university chicago offers a 1 year bachelors program (full time: summer, fall, spring, summer) and lewis university in romeoville (i believe its a part-time evening program for 2 years with clinicals on the weekends).

i know there are plenty of other RN programs all throughout illinois.

good luck!! if you go to CLC maybe i'll see you there =)

I am starting Lewis University's accelerated BA to BSN program in June. The requirements include: completed prerequisites with a C or above, successfully passing the NET test, a written letter of recommendation, a personal written statement, and a GPA of over 3.0 (if i remember correctly). Once this is done you can begin you pre-term which consists of Pathophysiology, Christian Theology, Cultural Diversity and Ethics. After completion of those classes you begin the actual nursing courses. I believe that classes are M,W,F 6-10 pm and clinicals are all on the weekends. It takes 20 months to complete.

Hi leslie910, I too have a B.S. in another field, i did some research about applying into universities such as seattle university and a few in Cali --LA because they offer accelerated programs such as 2nd degree RN programs--but i felt they were a little too over my budget, so i got into a 2 year program for my Associates degree in a community college here in cali and graduated. It was cheaper and closer to home, and i plan on furthering my education after a couple years of experience as an RN. hope this help..

There are many programs in Chicago that allow you to get an accelerated degree after a BS in another concentration. I am at DePaul which allows you a Masters, Loyola that does a BSN, Rush offers a Masters and UIC also offers a BSN and a Masters. There are many options in chicago if that is where you are looking...

Good luck!!
