scrub hats

Hello everyone!

Does anyone know where to find a pattern for scrub hats? I already make the male surgeon kind and also the bouffant style with plain elastic (round kind), but I am interested in making the ones with the band on the forehead and elastic cord in the back. I can't seem to find a pattern anywhere, and I am not creative enough to figure it out on my own. Any ideas???

Thanks!

Have you tried sewing or fabric shops???

My daughter found a pattern that called for a slip cord type arrangement.

She was (is) new to sewing and thought a couple of OR hats for good ole dad would be easy enough. I got some material, she opened up the pattern, and bailed out of the project!!! I think she quit too soon, but she's 21, you can't tell her anything! :chuckle

Anywho, try like Joann's Fabrics, or something like that. The patterns were all done up in little envelopes, like McCall's, or something like that.

Sort of a Cliff's Notes, for sewing I guess.

Have you checked out patterns by Mc Call? I had a pattern for scrub hats but I recently gave it to a former co-worker. I can't remember if the pattern I bought was for elastic all-round or the ones with the band on the forehead but you can check out Wal-mart' s fabric section, that's what I did.

If you can't find a pattern, take an older hat and take it apart. Use it for a pattern. If you want to make more than one, trace the pieces onto some craft paper.

Sewing for Dummies has a pattern for scrub hats.

Thanks to all that replied. The McCall is like the kind I make, and unfortunately the sewing for dummies one seems to be no longer available.

I guess I will just have to learn to be creative. :uhoh3:

Thanks again

That's weird, i just bought a new one 2 weeks ago, since my other one was worn out.

Could you please let me know the pattern number? I can not seem to find that pattern for anything! I know it exists, because I saw it on ebay a while back, but didn't buy it because I figured I could get it at a fabric store. Well, I can't find it in any simplicity book, and the lady at the store couldn't find it. I even flipped through all of the pattern drawers! She said it must be discontinued. If I could at least get the number, maybe I can special order. I am getting desperate!

Thanks!

I'll look tomorrow for it (it's in the closet somewhere).

Or you could just go to ScrubsByDesign & buy some....

They have really great fabrics, the colors last through lots of washings, & the 13 bux that you pay to have a ready made scrub hat can be a reallly good thing, as you are saving yourself the aggravation.

I am pretty sure that I used a simplicity pattern for making my scrub hats, when I had energy several years ago, LOL... The pattern for the hat was in the same little envelope as the pattern for scrubs themselves.

Good luck

Just wondering if you had a chance to look for that pattern number. I would really appreciate it.
