Scoring on Saunders??

Published

Does anyone know what I should be scoring on Saunders Exams?? Not the 10 questions quizzes but the 100 questions exams...I cannot get over 60%...I'm thinking at the very least I should probably be at a 70...however I seem to score better on Kaplan??? Confused.. I like Saunders but I'm curious as to what score I should be shooting for...anyone that has used Saunders can you help me out? I have failed 4x now on my NCLEX and I'm trying to do at least 7500 questions before I will allow myself to retake it again. I'm reading the rationales whether right or wrong....I just need help on the scoring goal!!!!

Thanks,

I am doing mainly Kaplan, but I just checked what I made on two exams that I still have saved in Saunders. The first one was in April and I made a 59%....the next one was after I have been doing a lot of studying and I did this one in July and I made a 79%. Both of these tests were in the same mode, meaning asking the same catagories that I choose for the test. Not sure if that is helpful or not.

On kaplan it depends on the subject I choose, if I choose the ones I am weak in in the qt bank I make around a 56 - 62%...if I do all catagories I make about 65%-73%.....My question trainers went from 1-6 from 56% to 75% steadly increasing my scores...so no bumping up and down on those.

i think you should get above 70 just to make sure...coz that was how i was scoring with saunders...i just took the exam yesterday and earlier i found out that i now have an active license as an RN...i would suggest that you do a good read of the topic first before attempting the exam so that your scores will improve...

can you tell me how you study? i am very confussed i dont know if i should just be doing questions or studying the whole chapter and then question? i have saunders 4th edition help!!!!!!!!!!!!!this will be my 4th time taking the nclex-pn

If you have some time to study, you may want to do the diagnostic test for Saunders. See your weakest area and begin with that area. Read that chapter then do some questions on Saunders and Nclex 3500 that deal with that area and evaluate yourself in how you do. If you can not get passed 70%. Then open up the book again and study that chapter and then test again with questions.

I did that for a while and now I study only questions, but I review instantly when I do questions the entire subject that I get wrong or that I thought I had right only because I guessed on it. Further, I even study anything that is given on information in the wrong answers that is not known to me. I basically look everything up that I do not know or understand. Mostly from Saunders, sometimes I have to go into my patho book and sometimes I just look things up online. This seems to work for me like a charm so far.

I did the Saunders in the blue book. I got all 80's 90's, a few 100's and a couple 60's. I did not read Saunder, I just did the questions and took HURST Review for core content. I got 75 question on NCLEX and passed. You can not just do questions; you need to know the core content.

i will read the chapter and then do the questions thank you so much for your input, wish me luck i want to be an lvn so bad:cry:
