Schweet

After a really bad day I had the most exciting thing happen. In my travels today I saw a poster for free CNA training. Needless to say I beat feet over to the place on the poster. I spoke with the LOL there and am now enrolled in the class. I just have on hurdle to get over but I am thinking it will not be that big of a hurdle. I have to take a test to get in the program. I asked about the clinicals, the tb test, the BG check and the test fees and was told it is all covered. Schweet. I can't believe I am on my way to becoming an RN.:balloons::smiley_aa

It's always nice to take the first step. I am also using experience as a CNA as a stepping stone to get to a RN.

Congratulations! :)

Just an update. I took the test today and....

Passed. Start in 2 weeks

Congrats!! I know that when I started taking my pre-pre reqs (had to take remedial math and chem) I felt that I had finally gotten on the path to my goal, even though the classes didn't "count" towards my degree. Just know that you are one step closer to where you want to be. Good Luck.

Congrats! I remember how excited I was when I first found out I was starting CNA classes. Now I'm graduating in 2 weeks. I also decided to become a CNA as a stepping stone to my future career- I definitely plan on going on. Good luck. :)

P.S. You're so lucky the class is free- Mine cost $1,300!

Just another update. I got the call I have been waiting for yesterday. I go in to meet with the instructor on Tuesday. Woohoo!!! Now to just start the training.

You lucky lucky thing. I had to pay 800 dollars for my CNA, then Home Health Aide then Patient Care Assistant thing (8 weeks total) and that wasn't including any of my tests. Also I've had the BCG vaccination (I was a resident of Norway for a few years) so I had to get the more expensive chest x-ray.

I start on Monday and I, too, intend to use this as a stepping stone to RN school/career. Looks like there are a lot of us doing it at once :)

Good luck!:monkeydance:

Another update; I had a meeting with my instructor today. Went over what the course entails. It was basically an interview. I wish I would have known that before hand. Oh well. We start on the 4th of Sept. I can't wait. He also confirmed that i will be the only male in the class. Should be interesting that.
