school and work

i work at a nursing home as an LPN and i'm starting my last semester of RN school soon. i'm also an 1199 union member. i'm trying to figure out how i'm going to balance school and work and it doesn't look like i'll have any time to breathe! This is what i came up with:

SUNDAY

off

MONDAY & TUESDAY

clinical 8a-2p

WEDNESDAY

classroom 830a-11a

THURSDAY

classroom 830a-11a

work 11p-7a

FRIDAY

work 11p-7a

SATURDAY

work 11p-7a

Now, I don't like working 7-3 or 3-11 because i've done it a couple times before and it's just too hectic for me, that's why i'm sticking to 11-7. i was told that to maintain my status in the 1199 union i have to work at least 3 days, which idk is true or not because i can't find any information on it. i'm wondering if any of you gals/guys here would know. I'd really like to work 2 days so i can breathe and catch up on schoolwork if need be.

if anyone knows the answer to my union question or has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated! thanks a lot!

Good luck! You'll make it if you want to!!

I just want to add that I am a non-traditional student in nursing school and I have to work a traditional job. I work from 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday and then I go to school anywhere from 3-4 nights a week from 5:30 until 8:50 and every other weekend is clinical on Saturday and Sunday during the day. So...it can be done (especially if you only have to work three days a week)

Now, get back to work or studying (because that's all you have time for :)

Good luck this semester!!

It can be done! I work 44 hours a week and attend a very accelerated BSN prorgram and thus far am doing very well. It all comes down to time management.

Oops. You left off study time! No point in adding sleep to your schedule because it won't fit anyway. Good luck!!

I'm with you...I work 3 days a week, but am factoring in working after class occassionally......36 hrs and 4 days a week school can be done...cause we just don't have a choice....
