Good luck! Everywhere I have looked at schools, (3 different states and about 8 different schools) they require pre reqs. Many people who get the "associates" rn or certificate LPN often have enough credits for a bachelors degree. I know I do! Nursing is very competitive these days, as it should be. There is a lot to learn, and basic biology, anatomy, physiology, math, etc is only the beginning!

im not sure if i understand your question...are you looking to get into nursing program, but do not currently have any prerequisities as of now? or are you looking for a way to get accepted to a program without having to take any prerequisities? the answer to the latter is a definitive No. I don't mean to sound snarkey...but the definition of prerequisites is that they are required first.

I don't think avoiding prerequisites will be possible....especially with a GED and no college prep. Nursing programs are very competitive and require college prep and 3.5 to 4.0 GPA from high school seniors and still require a year of per-reqs as well as specific entry tests to see if you qualify.

I don't think you can "do it quick" and the economy has affected nursing as well and many new grads can't find jobs upon graduation.

I wish you good luck in your endeavours.

The best approach would be to talk with representatives of your local LVN (this is the title in Texas and California) schools. They will be able to tell you exactly what is required. FYI, many LVN programs are 'clock hour' programs which do not include any transferable college credits so they would not really count toward an Associate Degree.

Best of luck to you.

You might consider becoming a d Certified Nursing Assistant or LPN/LVN first. Then you can get a job and valuable experience in healthcare. Many employers will help pay your tuition for programs at community colleges and other schools that bridge your CNA or LPN/LVN into becoming a Registered Nurse.

My CC that I am currently taking classes at has both an ADN and LPN progam and they all require prereq classes. I really do not think there is a way around that. Also, those classes are used as "weeder" classes since not everyone who starts the class will finish. I guess you could go to a private tech school that will just incorporate those classes into their program, but you will not have to take the classes prior to starting, but you will have to take the basic classes either way.

I don't know about getting an LPN/LVN. But if you are looking to get your RN without having to do pre-reqs and you have no college credit at all, you will be hard pressed to find a program like that. I'm not sure it exists.
