School supplies?!

I know the basic school supplies I will need (binders, notebook, pencils, etc) but is there anything anyone used "outside of the box" that helped? I'm not the most organized person so I am trying to figure out how to do this all and be successful!!

Thanks!! :) :)

A planner is an absolute must! I'm actually buying a brand new one this week because I don't want my old planner from the previous semester(s) to carry over into nursing school. With my planner, I color code my classes: so for example, I would write all of my tests and such quizzes in pencil for all of my classes, but highlight then in a specific color that corresponds to a specific class. But, in terms of reading and lecture, I'll write in a colored pen that also corresponds to the specific class as well.

Definitely get a planner, I prefer the Uncalendar myself. If your school permits you to record lectures a recorder may be useful to you. Make sure you have a decent stethoscope (i like the littmans). Make sure you get a good backpack for your books. Not an over the shoulder one, as you can do some serious damage, even consider a rolling one.

A really good printer! I bought a Brother printer that's a scanner, copier, and printer in one. It prints on both sides of the paper and is wireless. It's fantastic!!

Thanks!! Awesome ideas!

Hi aubgurl:

What model of Brother printer did you get?

Thank you.

Do you actually use the scanning and copying features of the printer? I have heard that I'll need a laser printer because I'll be doing a LOT of printing, but is scanning/copying a necessity, too?

TIA!

I did buy ink for my printer but our school allowed us a certain number of print outs at the library so I did not end up using all my ink :)

Hi aubgurl:

Thank you for the link. Are you concerned it is not a color printer for times you may need color?

Thank you.

I bought a huge dry erase calendar. It's great for marking when things are due and where clinical sites are :) It also has a notes section so anything that you want to remind yourself of.
