Jun 3, 201313 yr I know the basic school supplies I will need (binders, notebook, pencils, etc) but is there anything anyone used "outside of the box" that helped? I'm not the most organized person so I am trying to figure out how to do this all and be successful!!Thanks!! :) :)
Jun 3, 201313 yr Good day:See https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/recommendations-pre-nursing-834553.html for the great answers I received to a similar question.Thank you.
Jun 3, 201313 yr A planner is an absolute must! I'm actually buying a brand new one this week because I don't want my old planner from the previous semester(s) to carry over into nursing school. With my planner, I color code my classes: so for example, I would write all of my tests and such quizzes in pencil for all of my classes, but highlight then in a specific color that corresponds to a specific class. But, in terms of reading and lecture, I'll write in a colored pen that also corresponds to the specific class as well.
Jun 3, 201313 yr Definitely get a planner, I prefer the Uncalendar myself. If your school permits you to record lectures a recorder may be useful to you. Make sure you have a decent stethoscope (i like the littmans). Make sure you get a good backpack for your books. Not an over the shoulder one, as you can do some serious damage, even consider a rolling one.
Jun 3, 201313 yr A really good printer! I bought a Brother printer that's a scanner, copier, and printer in one. It prints on both sides of the paper and is wireless. It's fantastic!!
Jun 3, 201313 yr Little sticky flags for your lab and drug books. Amazon.com: Post-it Flags with On-the-Go Dispenser, Assorted Bright Colors, 1/2-Inch Wide, 100/Dispenser, 1-Dispenser/Pack: Unknown: Office ProductsI took notes on my PPs with a pen that had 3 ink colors, that helped differentiate topics. Note cards... TONS of notecards. I probably went through 1000 for block 1.
Jun 4, 201313 yr Hi aubgurl:What model of Brother printer did you get?Thank you. This is the one I got. It is well worth the money! I love it!Amazon.com: Brother Printer Wireless Monochrome Printer, Dark Grey (HL2280DW): Electronics
Jun 4, 201313 yr Do you actually use the scanning and copying features of the printer? I have heard that I'll need a laser printer because I'll be doing a LOT of printing, but is scanning/copying a necessity, too?TIA!
Jun 4, 201313 yr I did buy ink for my printer but our school allowed us a certain number of print outs at the library so I did not end up using all my ink :)
Jun 4, 201313 yr Hi aubgurl:Thank you for the link. Are you concerned it is not a color printer for times you may need color?Thank you.
Jun 4, 201313 yr I bought a huge dry erase calendar. It's great for marking when things are due and where clinical sites are :) It also has a notes section so anything that you want to remind yourself of.
