I start my program on Monday and it's not very technologically friendly. They print out the power points for us instead of posting them online. I like having my papers scanned in so I can upload them to my Ipad so I don't have a ton of papers to keep track of. I have a printer but the scanner portion is not very fast. I know I'm going to have a lot of papers I'm going to have to scan in so I'm looking for suggestions for a fast and pretty inexpensive scanner? $200 or under. Thank you:)

I use the Epson Workforce WF-2540, it's not the fastest at scanning but it's nice that it has a document feeder for scanning (so I don't have to do one paper at a time) and can wirelessly transmit the scanned papers to the desired computer. Also it has the ability to make documents into writeable MS Word files, which is nice. I bought mine on Amazon in January for a little less than 100 dollars.

My current "all in one" printer is an HP Officejet 4620 and aside from having to replace ink cartridges about once every 5-6 weeks because of the printing I had to do, it worked just fine throughout my last 3 semesters of nursing school. It does have a document feeder and it's USB 2.0, so it's reasonably fast. If I'm scanning in 200 DPI or less in grayscale, it's pretty darned fast. If you're scanning documents, just be aware that unless you have your settings done right, you easily could have some significantly large files.
I think I got mine at Costco for around $140. There were others that had more features, but mine has worked pretty well. The printer it replaced worked well for a while and then it started having issues that were common to that model. Unfortunately I don't remember what brand/model that one was but it's scanner worked well too.
I'm sure there are scanner-only devices that are good, fast, and can scan both sides without too many issues... assuming that's all you need.

I just use the TinyScan app on my ipad mini. It will scan documents into one pdf file, then you can upload them in evernote or a similar app, and write notes, highlight, etc. I use this for conferences I attend, and it is great!

If you have $200 to spend, I'd look into an all-in-one laser printer, or a laser printer with a scan/copy feature. It's the best investment I've ever made, and it saves so much money when needing to print out a lot of documents. Even the "introductory toner" included will print a good 1500-2000 pages before you need to buy another one.

I post my PPs, but also make available in print as so many students did that themselves and used for note taking in class. Some of our online stuff won't open until after classes start (college policy, not SON)... so check to make sure that you won't have them online at some point. Good luck! welcome to the journey!

There's this app I have on both my iPad and iPhone called Genius Scan. Love it. You can take pictures and/or use existing document pictures and have them scanned and emailed/exported/messaged/etc. It's very helpful, especially when I don't have an actual scanner on hand (Fact: I don't know how to use an actual scanner)
I have genius scan, but I think I'm going to need something for bigger projects. I'm looking into a laser jet scanner since I have a inkjet printer already. I definitely need one with a document feeder since the one I have now doesn't have one.

got my HP copier/printer/scanner/photo printer for less than $100 at Best Buy
Does it have a document feeder and scan pretty fast? My school doesn't post ANYTHING online....they print out all powerpoints and handouts so I know I'll have a lot to scan into my computer at once.

Any successful apps that scan textbook images and convert to Microsoft word?
