Abbnurse I think about some of our previous members too

Ado glad you have someone interested in seeing Phantom with you

Tweety here is the link the recipe https://www.simplyrecipes.com/kay-chun-new-york-times-sesame-tomato-salad-review-11776624

Work was good for me yesterday, had time during the day to make the tomato salad. After work was pretty quiet until the potluck. Turnout was a bit smaller than usual, I did get the chance to talk with some people I don't normally talk to which is always nice

Today should be an ordinary Saturday for me, bird watching and lunch with dad. Will likely make the recipe that I'll be taking to the church's pride party tomorrow, Rice Krispie treats with M&Ms. Might drop by our local farmer's market if I have time

Will be warmer today, in the upper 80s, rain should hold off until the evening

Good morning!

Thanks for the recipe Joe. Actually seems pretty basic and like things I've made many times. The combo of toasted sesame seed oil, soy sauce and rice vinegar is delicious. I'll check if cherry tomatoes are still BOGO and make it. I might add a little red onion for some kick.

I did the usual and got up early to feed Waffles and take my med and went back to sleep for another three hours.

Nothing much going on today. It's wash the sheets day and I have other laundry to do as well. I have lunch and dinner pre-made but may look through my cookbooks for a recipe to try.

As AHNOHLD the Terminator said,
'AHLL BE BACK!'

Joe, I did mean to say kudos for reaching your weight loss goal.

What happened to ALL NURSES? it used be a discussion site, then all ads and commercials for schools, jobs, testing preparation. Now it is a site I rarely visit. Jeepers I would love to spar again with the NP who never worked as an RN and proclaimed she was the expert on getting in to nursing school (despite my 30 years of advisement and teaching) Yoo hoo! You thought since you came from Sothern Carifornia, and took some discount classes you were a wonderment for us all.

Huh. I didn't post yesterday!. That's because during the last dog walk of the day, Tinker and the fat little old grumpy dog on the other side of the chain link fence decided she was ready to play the "let's chase each other back and forth on our own sides of the fence." And they did, and when I thought they were through, because the other dog poops out early in the game, I started going back to our house. At that moment the other dog issued another 'challenge' which I was not expecting, so I wasn't paying attention, when Tinker reversed course in a split second and quite literally YANKED me off my feet! A 12 lb dog moving so fast and hard, that I, all 160 lbs of me, had my feet pulled out from under me! I fell into the chain-link fence with my body slamming up against my left hand caught between me and the fence and I landed on my right hip. It was QUITE the surprise! And my hand really HURT! Two neighbors from across the street and the neighbor who owns the other dog, and was sitting on their back porch, came running to see if I needed help getting up. I was trying to decide if anything was broken or not. I said, "Let me see if I can do this myself" because I wanted to test if there was any possible injury to my hand. Well I did get up by crawling my hands up the links of the fence and decided it wasn't broken. So once I was up I told them I was going to go into my house to put some ice on my hand and wrist and elevate it. After I'd iced it really well, I took a close look at it....I had sprained my wrist and little finger pretty damn good, and then I noticed that my index finger was swollen, more at the tip than on the shaft of the finger. By golly, the top part of my finger was broken!

Being the independent old cuss that I am, I searched around through all the First Aid stuff I'd collected from when hubby was falling down drunk all the time. I found an unopened 1 + 1/2 inch roll of gauze, and began wrapping my left index finger to support it (I had no splints or tongue depressors) and got several layers around it, then worked some small tubing roll on down the finger, then decide it needed even more support so I used that plastic tape to go around all of it in several layers, fashioning my very own splint. Then I wrapped my hand from just above my palm down and around my wrist and back up. I went looking for, and found (!) a wrist splint from earlier days and times, so I applied that as well. Good thing I was resourceful enough to invent my own "kinda, but really not a cast.". I decided it was a good thing it hadn't been my middle finger because I will be walking around with this straight, white-wrapped finger straight out and up, especially if I was holding my hand up against my left shoulder and chest (I HATE slings with a purple passion!) giving EVERYBODY the , I mean THE finger! 😝

It's also a good thing that it will be around 2 + 1/2 weeks until the POD is delivered here for me to pack, and then I won't have to have it ready to go until July 7th. But I also have to pack my little KIA Soul with the necessities Tinker and I will need, as we will be leaving on the morning of the 8th, on our 6+ hour drive. And the POD couldn't be scheduled for delivery to J's house until July 14th. For some strange reason that I cannot understand, it will be stored a mere 21 miles from J's house until the 14th of July when they will deliver it to her house. And because I have to unload it myself, as neither J nor her husband S are able to lift or move much of anything, I can't tell them what day to come pick it up.

So that's what happened Friday evening, and is my VERY GOOD EXCUSE for not posting! 😇

It is 100 degrees out there in the yard [🫠I'm melting! ] but I only have to venture outside to check the mailbox..... and I will probably wait until sundown. Hope Tinker can hold her water for another couple of hours! She's sleeping right now.

I kinda feel a little guilty for not going back to sorting and packing more stuff, but that's exactly what I would fuss at somebody ELSE for doing, so I am paying attention, however reluctantly, to my inner-voice SELF!

All for now, and it is quite enough!!

Your profile says you joined May 17 and only have a few posts. Was this always your name or would you be someone we would recognize here on this thread?

Anyway the ads have been with us for years. Much like other social media sites, news sites, or any site really, that are free ads are a fact of life. They have taken on a different view over the years with vids and AI targeting you based on cookies and your search history. It's weird that I can search for bookshelves and then see nothing but ads for bookshelves on my socials.

It does seem there was a lot more back and forth discussion in the old days. I mainly come to this thread and a thread about movies and TV I started.

Good grief Stars! So sorry that happened and glad everything is relatively okay. Bad timing though with the move.

My sister made a makeshift splint for my mother when she broke her wrist because they refused to take her to the ER out of fear they would admit her and she refused.

You might remember I had surgery 10 years ago on my right shoulder. My 20 lb. dog unexpectedly took off after a squirrel when I wasn't looking and tore my labrum. These little dogs can be fierce when they unexpectedly take off like that.

Hello all!

No Stars, it sounds like you took care of the splint issue admirably. I hope your hand heals enough so you are "ready" to pack things up when the time comes. Time inexorably marches... I hope the pain is tolerable. No more of that, now! Ugh, 100 degrees PLUS the humidity??? Yay for A/C!

Tweety, I enjoy reading your movie reviews, as I am not really a critic. If a film or series entertains me (without making me cringe), it's OK; I tend not to pick much apart, unless the acting or script or something is BLATANTLY bad or offensive. I recently started a book series then stopped reading, as I couldn't connect with how it was written. Plot line was OK, just-- how it was presented didn't hold my attention.

Joe, how was the bird-watching and lunch with your dad? Glad you had the chance to chat at the get-together. Thanks for the recipe!

It is 100 degrees today, but humidity 17%. We are IN-side, in the A/C! We attended Zoom Sabbath School, then after lunch I made a lentil soup. Supposedly (it's the recipe from FB, Tweety) it is an anti-inflammatory version: turmeric, freshly-grated ginger, lemon juice (I added some zest I had frozen), lentils, onion, garlic, S&P, carrots, celery. It is different (probably the turmeric I'm tasting), hopefully dh will like it. I added chopped fresh spinach and some chopped fresh parsley. Used red lentils. It'll fill our tummies!

suellen funk, welcome back. I agree, there used to be more discussions here on procedure and theory. How is your career going? Are you in a specialty? Have you seen many changes in the past few years (when were you last at AN)?

Have a good afternoon and evening!

Gosh, dianah, that soup sounds really, really good! I don't have Facebook, so I can't access the recipe (hint, hint) Or maybe you could freeze some and send it to me for my birthday? I liked the things that you added to it, also.

Now I'm hungry! I reckon I should go upstairs and heat up something from either the pantry or freezer. At least feeling obliged to use up the food here is keeping me from spending my money!

The other night my friend J called and asked me how and what I ate. Turns out they are also grazers who eat when the urge strikes. Except J said she has trouble stopping the urge from happening so often! They are also big fried chicken fans. She said her husband 'specializes' in chili and beans and she'd have him make some for the day I arrive. Yeah, if she remembers, she said! She also said he doesn't make it 'too spicy' because she can't tolerate too much 'heat', Yuh, I responded, well, how come she's living in FLORIDA??!

This laptop seems to have a mind of its own...... when I reread my post to edit any mistakes I found out the spell-check has no brain! Where I had typed "chili and beans" it had "corrected" it to "Child and beans." Nope, NOPE, no kids for me, thank you very much!

It's been a warm, 79 with a nice breeze. I had nice ride to breakfast and took the long ride home. I was at the demo garden for a couple of hours, until it got too hot for me out in the sun. We are getting the travel trailer ready to leave next Saturday. I washed out the fridge, after discovering the funky smell was 4 fuzzy, desiccated oranges in the bottom drawer. And I did a little pruning in our yard. And now I'm exhausted. Youngest ds brought home some samosas from his work potluck, and that is going to be dinner for me.

I was looking at the online medical portal for one sister, and saw that the other had a hand X-ray that showed a broken finger. So I called her to see if she needed anything. Her dog leapt out of the car, catching her off guard, and the leash was wrapped around her ring finger. Shap! She has it splinted, and because it's on her non dominant hand, is managing. And she waited 2 days before seeking medical care. Insert rolling eyes emoji here.

Annie, I think you will really enjoy the Phantom. It's pricey, but to me, it's a bucket list kind of thing.

Ado, hope you get to see Phantom. I saw a broadway tour of Phantom many years ago and was captivated. I have the soundtrack on CD somewhere of the broadway cast with the lead Michael Crawford from the London cast whom I think is a great vocalist. His wikipedia page says he's still alive at 84 and went on to have a long and successful career after Phantom.

Thanks Dinah, I tend to not be overly critical of movies like a critic, but I also want to pick well reviewed movies to see. Many people say they don't listen to critics but if enough critics don't like a movie and it has a low score on Rotten Tomatoes, I most likely won't watch it. I often will rent a movie on Prime using points from my credit card and want to spend the money wisely and will pick a movie with a good RT score. I also like Indie movies and not always blockbuster movies with big stars.

I'm pretty sure I made that lentil soup before, or one similar, and indeed the turmeric adds an interesting depth but also the veggies add a lot of flavor.
