SANE classes?

Hi folks!

I live and work in Albq. and want to pursue SANE certification. I've been looking online for info on classes etc... but haven't found anything helpful aside from descriptions of what SANE is. I did email some city of albuquerque address I found at one of the sites several weeks ago, but haven't heard back (and probably won't)! If you have any phone numbers/email addresses or just helpful info, feel free to post it or PM me...I'll owe ya one!!

For some reason, SANE sounds familiar but I do not remember what it is. Perhaps, cause I pulled an allnighter and I am a day nurse.

SANE is???

SANE=sexual assault nurse examiner. I think the class is a couple times a year in Santa Fe maybe? Still haven't found any real info, but looking!

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner

Hi Jackieliz, did you check out the website for the International Association of Forensic Nurses ? It has a list of resources by state. Try the State Forensic Nurse Association as well, that's how I was able to find my class.

I took the course here in NJ this past January, it was an eye opener for some things and validated things I knew from working the ER and in psych and waaaaaaay back when in nursing school. I haven't persued the program further (SANE certification that is) because my interests are in forensic psychology, but it's all a part of it. besides now I have papers that proove I'm SANE. (although the tell me they are going to change the acronym)

Good luck with the course.

YOu might get some help from the local Coroners Office or an ER. I bet, University Hospital would be most helpful with info. UH has an extensive program for Continuing Education and may be able to point you in the right direction.

Good Luck in finding what you need.

Thanks-definitely helpful guys (gals?).

I live in Clovis and work for PRMC and we have the SANE program, so I would imagine Pres. Hospital in Alb. would as well.

Call the prosecution office in your township for information. I know in NJ, they hire SANE nurses to work with abuse cases in both the field & in court.

They may have reliable information on where you can become certified.
