Salary in Texas only!!!

Hi, I am new to this board. I am looking into LVN school and then pursing my RN's license. I am concerned about the pay and what options are available for LVNs in Texas. I would like to get salary info mostly.

I live in the Austin Texas area. I have searched the board and no one seems to have a clear answer for salary out here. If anyone could help that would be wonderful.

Thanks,

sc

Is your question pay for LVN status? You could also check out Texas Nurses in the forum board.

Yes it is. I have searched the board but no one really knows about the Austin area.

I'm sure salaries in Austin are like most any other city --- they can vary greatly. Just listening to some of the nurses talk where I work (in Louisiana) salaries vary greatly in our facility. Good luck finding a suitable answer to your question.

Perhaps you could call Austin University of Texas and check with the nursing department.....just a thought.;)

I'm in Fort Worth, which is about 180 miles north of Austin.

I earn $19 hourly at a nursing home/SNF. Generally, the LVN pay rates in Austin tend to be low because Austin is not suffering from a nursing shortage. Austin is considered the "pretty city" of Texas where everyone wants to live and work, so this city suffers from an oversupply of nurses. Generally, new grad LVNs in Austin can expect to start at about $15 hourly.
