Rolling cart instead of rolling backpack?

I tried the square type rolling cart that collapses. The second time I loaded it up, it broke. I went back to the rolling luggage (I have various sizes)--I often find them at BigLots at an inexpensive price. I think I have a backpack on rollers, but it does not hold as much as the roller-luggage.

Do you think if it was a heavy duty one it wouldn't break? Or was yours a heavy duty?

If you run over my toes with a rolling cart be prepared for me to kick it over. I hate hate hate how people that have rolling backpacks cant seem to drive them ever.

I could see myself rolling over someones toes! I better watch out!!

will your books get wet if it rains

I hae owned 2 wheeled backpacks, and neither one of them lasted a semester b/c the wheels were mounted in plastic, which cracked and broke. If you buy a wheeled backpack, might as well spend for a good one, like $100 or more. Attachment of the wheels was the weakness, so inspect that for sure.

I sometimes use a folding luggage cart, with a big zippered bag of books on it. A big chromed cart from Big Lots or someplace, lol. It's bulkier and a longer trailer to pull than a backpack, but definitely pulls better for long distances or outdoors, like over asphalt and concrete. Negatives are: longer trailer, bulkier and rather unwieldy in tight hallways and tight classrooms, have to fold it up and it takes room to stash it someplace. And classmates and some profs made fun of me, saying I looked like I'm going to the airport. I respond: "One of these days, to the Moon, Alice!" (reference to Jackie Gleason in The Honeymooners old TV show. Some days, when I have loads of books, I still use it and public opinion be d'd. ;-) Beats lugging all that stuff.

in the mid 90s i was taking the train into my job and started taking a small zippered bag on rollers. no one was doing anything like that at the time...only briefcases. i left my job after a few years. then when i started taking the same train downtown, i found that i had started a trend. many, many people were using the zippered bags on wheels instead of taking a shoulder bag or briefcase.

let your classmates or professors make fun. the zippered bag will save your back and energy. it just makes sense to me. the ones at biglots are inexpensive enough that if they fall apart after a semester, you can easily buy another and not break your budget. be forewarned, when i would lie the bag down at night, i found my cat made the bag her new bed. apparently, it is very comfyfor a cat..who would realize. if you ever see a woman with white cat hair on her black biglots zipper/roller bag, that would be me.

A few people in our class got this scrapbooking tote from Hobby Lobby. It's a little pricey, but it will last. It fits all of the books we needed daily, plus has lots of little pockets for pens, pencils, highlights, post-its, etc.

For school? I think a roller cart would be a bit overkill. For my program at least, I never take my books to class. Most of the newer books you can get a code that they are viewable online and if I absolutely needed a book for class, I would just bring along my net book.

OR I've seen some people get their books unbinded and just bind them by chapter or get them hole punched and carry around the current chapters in a large binder.
