Hello everyone!
I'm a foreign educated nurse-RN from the Czech Republic. I wish to work in the New York City. I started 1.5 year ago with the CGFNS. Actually Credential Verification Service for New York State. Then NYSED found me eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam. I passed the NCLEX one week ago on 75 questions. Now I'm not really sure what I have to do? I found some informations on the internet that I have to go through an nursing recruiting agency or to contact the US employer. https://www.discovernursing.com/steps-for-foreign-educated-nurses#.VazwmKR_Okp
So my questions is if you guys have any experience with the process or if you know a good agency?
Thank you very much. I appreaciate your help.

There are very few employers willing to sponsor for nursing jobs right now especially in areas like NY City. Do you have work experience as a nurse? Are you specialty trained? In other words what incentive would a NY/US facility have to go through the time and expense of visa sponsorship.
There is a shortage in many areas of experienced specialty trained nurses (OR, obstetrics, MICU, PICU, SICU, TICU, NICU, ED, etc). If you are a nurse with a BSN and 5+ years cardiovascular OR nursing experience your sponsorship opportunities are greater than a newer graduated it's with less than a year work experience.
It's difficult but not impossible.

The issue if looking at NYC is finding a employer willing to pay $$$ to sponsor you for a immigrant visa when there are many nurses in the city looking for work.
You need to contact hospitals or recruiters and see if they are sponsoring IEN's and willing to wait whilst you go through the process
Thank you for answering me. Yes, I do have an experience. I have been working for 5 years in ICU-cardiovascular surgery. Do you think is better to contact an agency or hospitals? Thank you!
I don't know what is better if to contact hospitals or agency. Maybe I should try both to increase the chance to get a job.
Well you are ahead of the game with specialty experience. Are you still overseas? I'd try both. You may want to consider larger facilities in upstate NY (check to see if the hospital offers CVICU services so that your expertise may be needed) Syracuse, Albany, etc. lm not sure which region or your typical weather. Upstate NY gets very cold with snowy winters.
No, I'm not. I'm already in NYC. I'm preparing now for ACLS. Haha, I'm not worried about the weather, in CR it's also sometimes pretty cold. Thank you for the advice.

If you are already in the state, contact hospital/ nurse recruiter. Many of them will advise you to apply online. Then go to their hospital page and apply.
Are you under tourist visa or other type of visa? I found it hard to change your status fRom tourist to work visa. It must easier from student to work. But it's all possible.
