RN on Probation - Supervision question (home health related)

Hello all. I recently received probation (3 years) by the CA BRN due to charting visits that were not done. I am still currently working in home health but possibly may not be able to continue after my probation starts date. My job is aware and is very supportive but in the dark about what supervision means. My monitor has not responded to emails almost 2 weeks now so here I am asking for first hand experiences.

I have heard of nurses being able to continue in this field with strict supervision. What was the supervision/monitoring like? Did it last the entire probation time?

One can check CA Board of Nursing: Disciplinary Actions and Reinstatements to see actions the BON takes on different nurses-- need to search by BON, type nursing license #, click on public info to see discipline assigned; not an easy process compared to PA's public listing disciplinary actions.

As a longterm Home Health Agency Manager, charting visits that were not done is considered financial fraud + against nursing regulations.  Field nurses work independently in clients homes/apts/assisted + independent living settings without direct oversite of work performed. Therefore,  expect that supervision would need by done ONSITE in an office or facility to directly observe work/care provided + no night shift with another RN present due to prior falsification.

Does your agency have office based positions-coders, infection control, educator, staffing coordinator  while another nurse present?   Allnurses Criminal History forum has info to assist you if new position needed to meet BON requirements.

Keep in touch during your probation for support and member advice.  This is not  insurmountable--3 years will pass-by.

I have worked in home health for 6 years. I am asking specific to the probation supervision. I am aware it was wrong and what supervision entails. I'm more asking first hand experience for someone who has worked in home health while on probation and had supervision level 1, 2 or 3 and how long that lasted. I've heard 6 months and then quarterly but want to hear others experience.

I've held multiple East Coast US licenses, familiar with their license disciplinary actions .From CA members allnurse's comments, supervision level 1, 2 or 3 appears to be specific to CA BON depending on each individual nurses case.   Hope your case manager gets back to you soon.
