RN to PMHNP

Published

Hello, everyone.

I am new RN, and I am working in psychiatry. I am truly enjoying my job, and I want to continue my education. Unfortunately, I do not have my BSN yet, so it prolongs my journey. I was thinking to obtain my BSN from WGU as fast as I can, and then apply to EKU or NKU. I just wanted to hear more opinions on this action plan before I apply. Is there any better way to obtain my PMHNP?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Wilkes has an RN to MSN. Your plan doesn't sound bad though.

Agreed. I started at Wilkes. Seemed like the best option to me.

I would not enroll in WGU until I checked out University of Texas-Arlington RN to BSN program. I believe it is a bit less expensive.

WGU graduates, on average, increase their incomes by $12,500 within two years of graduation. With an average cost of $15,000 for a bachelor's degree from, the return on investment of a WGU degree is less than two years.Mar 19, 2018

The cost of the UTA Online RN to BSN program is $8,995 for tuition only, according to their website. After a review of the RN to BSN program, the true cost of tuition is most likely higher, as they have fairly strict general education requirements including a Texas government class that is required.

I would do UT Tyler's RN to BSN instead of UTAs. UTA requires an extra literature course. And it takes longer than 9 months, their website is misleading.

What about an ADN to a MSN bridge? I know these exist....try a quick Google search. If I see one, I'll try to post back.

Some ADN/ ASN to PMHNP programs are

University of Rochester
