Finishing my BSN in 6 months. Need advice in what to do because I've decided I'm going on for NP. I'm in Long Island. Some schools make you wait until the program starts for BSN-NP but I don't want to sit idle while I wait and I'm wondering if I can take classes needed for the program while I wait.. anyone do this? Recommendations?

Study for the GRE, and get a good score to pad your application.
Do we have to take that?
Many good schools require it. Some waive it for good GPAS.
It's an easy test, high school algebra and reading.

And pass NCLEX and find employment as an RN?

Enrolling in graduate level courses is going to require an undergraduate degree.
The majority consensus here at AN is that NP programs that require direct under-graduate entry with no RN experience devalue the expertise and educational requirements of a nurse practitioner. And further, NPs who have no/minimal RN experience provide a disservice to their patients. Looking for ways to finish an NP program in even less time and with less experience is not going to score you any points.

Most schools that I am aware of require an RN license to begin the program. So I would begin researching programs and see what you will need in order to apply. I didn't need the GRE and most schools did not require it.
