RN to BSN

Published

Does anyone know of a RN to BSN program for diploma nurses? I'm running into the need to re-take all of my pre requsits again because I don't have an actual degree. Is there a program out there that won't require me to retake all the a&p's, chem again? Please help me?!?! Most of the major online programs require me to retake and I'm running into lots of closed doors.

Most accredited programs have a 5 year limit on the sciences.

I thought it was 10 years on sciences?? It's been greater than 5 years since my last micro or A&P. I don't have to retake and of my sciences but I do have to retake statistics. That class has a 5 year limit 😞 OP with a diploma, I'm not sure. How many schools have you tried OP

Most local in Charlotte NC, won't even tell me until I'm accepted into their RN-bsn programs. I've tried Phoenix, south. Chamberlain seems to be the last resort for private colleges.

Did you look at a Western Governors University? They have multiple options for completion of pre-reqs. Many enjoy the self-directed learning. There is a dedicated forum for WGU here on allnurses

I concur with the previous respondent's suggestion to look into Western Governors University. Their transcript evaluators have accepted 20+ year-old coursework for transfer credit. The only course that must be less than five years old is statistics, but you'll still be accepted if you haven't completed this class.

Two other schools that are friendly toward diploma RNs are Saint Joseph's College of Maine and Kaplan University.

Keep researching and hang in there! I know of a few schools who do not adhere to a time limit when it comes to core course work.

I'm planning on starting an online ADN/ASN to BSN program in January. When I spoke to them a few weeks back they said that as long as your program is "core certified" then it's a simple process and the pre-reqs are accepted. They told me that they have transcripts from over 20 years ago that go through without having to take a bunch of extra courses.
