Right schools?...

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows the waiting list time for schools such as Glendale Comm. College, Gateway, Apollo, ASU or the Banner fellows program? And is any school or program better than the other, are they all accredited the same? I just want to make the right choice before I get into a particular school or program. Thanks!

Private schools like Apollo typically have the shortest waiting time, mostly due to the fact that they are so expensive. I went to Apollo and I had to wait for 3 weeks until the next semester starts. Cost me $30k though....worth it considering I am quickly making that up in my salary considering I am working a year sooner than if I would have waited for the com colleges.

It is accredited but the credits do not transfer like they do with the com colleges or ASU. You can still pursue a BSN or MSN through RN-BSN/MSN bridge programs.

All depends on if you have your pre reqs done and how long you are willing to wait.

I would say ASU is the best, then the coms, then the rest.

Not unless that is a brand spanking new requirement considering I just graduated in March and I have not heard of that.

Yeah I didn't think that sounded right. Do you know anything about the difference between, Apollo, Everest and Grand Canyon University, like which one is cheapest and what their wait lists are like? What were your classes like at Apollo, were they everyday of the week or on certain days? Thanks!:typing

I don't remember what the exact differences were or their exact tuition costs...I know it has increased since I left. I had all my prereqs done so I was able to shave off a lot of my tuition costs. For everything with no pre reqs done IIRC it is somewhere around 40k.

The semester I graduated Apollo was bought by Devry and I know there were plans to fold Apollo into Chamberlain or something like that.

Certain days we would have certain instructors teaching different subjects although we were always in the same class.

When I went to Apollo there was no waiting list although that may have changed since I went there.

There is no waiting list for Banner. You must, however, complete your co-reqs in addition to your pre-reqs prior to application to the Banner Nurse Fellows Program.

I'm at Apollo right now. My tuition is $46K. It's a 2-year (6-semester) program that includes prereqs. If you have all your prereqs done you can jump in at the 3rd semester if there's a seat available, which there may not be. So they suggest you take at least 1 class to ensure your seat. For prereqs, some can be taken online. For 3rd semester my schedule is Tues-Fri with clinicals on Wed. It is different for others because they have us split into groups for clinicals.

The credits are not the same as community college. But you can still get your BSN through Universty of Phoenix and another institution. Devry did buy Apollo but the programs have not merged. However, I would think you could also eventually get your BSN through Chamberlain's online program.

Apollo has a very high NCLEX pass rate (was the highest in the state last I heard), which is the bottom line for me. I can live with the tuition and I like the program so far, so it was a good choice for me. May not be worth the tuition if you have time to wait around to get in to community college.

Apollo College as of the last graduating class has the second highest NCLEX pass rate. IIRC, it's in the high 80% or low 90%.

You can start Apollo straight from High School, but that will cost you the full $46,000. If you already have some schooling after HS, you may be able to test out of Math, English, Sociology and Psychology, or by using your transcripts.

Apollo only requires that you take the Cpat, and the NET tests with the high 30 scorers of the NET tests getting accepted.

What I've posted is pretty much what they will tell you in the nursing orientation.
