Hey there!
I failed this one too with a D. You can email or call excelsior and have the wait time reduced to one month instead of two if you would like too. Just tell them where you went wrong and your new study plan. I really reccomend the Saunders NCLEX comprhensive review for this test, I mainly studied and did the practice questions from here and went back and made an A. Make sure you do the practice tests from EC, and read all the responses, some of the show up on the real test but sometimes they are in a different form. The test will not be the same but similar. You can do this!! I know its heartbreaking to recieve a D but really just get in there and focus on your weaknesses and you can do this!!
Best of luck to you :)

I got a D on that one too. My only one. wrote to Excelsior, and retook it in a month and got an A. I dunno..... different tests everytime though.
Alot of Mysthenia Gravis, ALS, RA, OA took nursing practice exams for $29.00 and that seemed to help. Didn't study much more for the A...I don't get it.
Try again, I am sure you will pass.

sorry to hear you didn't pass, did you do the practice exam- if not i would recommend it... if you like you can always call ec and try to reduce the date... you will not get the same test next time, but i am sure you will do better. for ls3 i actually read the med. surg book and that help a lot...

I failed my very first test- I think it was transitions- i cant remember but I got the wait time reduced and passed the 2nd time. I agree with everything Robin said- I used the Saunders like crazy and I used the practice exams. They are worth every penny! I know the disappointment you feel after not passing, but try to pick it back up and remember your motivation. Good luck!

In addition to the above posts advice which is excellent, if you are able to go through the content guide thoroughly. Know it like the back of your hand. Go through each section, Teach it to family and friends if they will listen. And lets not forget www.flashcardexchange.com . Very helpful..Good luck to you.

The trick to LS3 is understanding the difference between the diseases. Some of the diseases have similarites, but there's always a few things that stick out that differentiate one from another. For me, that's what worked. I went through a&p briefly to remember how the system worked, then looked at the disease and usually there is too much or not enough of whatever to cause the problem. That gave me picture to go by. I think understanding the disease process makes the info easier to remember, then review with Saunders! Good Luck!! You will pass well next time!!
One thing i forget to mention is if you are a visual learner like me google animations on say like how the heart pumps blood or mvp. It stuck in my head better that way! Put whatever you want to look up in a search engine then put animation, but try to keep it simple.
Two good sites are http://www.nih.gov and doctorsecrets.com
