Respiratory Help please!

Published

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to study Respiratory. I have mastered the ABG's so I am good on those, just the rest of it I am messing up really bad. The thing is, I thought I had it but unfortunately my test score showed otherwise. Our instructor split our test up because she told us that is a grade breaking test, so the first part was yesterday on upper respiratory problems. Our next test is this coming thursday on Lower respiratory problems.

Anyhow whatever I am doing is not working so if anyone has any great websites I would greatly appreciate if you would post them. Also if you have any suggestions on how you prepared for test I would love to hear those as well.

If you have a nclex book that help me or study. The nclex books get straight to the point and they cut out the fluff in the book. Also, the care plans in your medsurg book are helpful. Look at the nursing interventions. For ex: if you have pneumonia, what types of interventions would do for this pt, what nursing dx would be appropriate for this pt or the outcome or what teaching would help this pt. once you understand the patho and then look for the abnormal. I hope this help u. Good luck on your next test

i would recommend that you study respiratory diseases like studying diseases of any other body system. know the normal anatomy and physiology of this body system first. disease is always about what has gone wrong with the normal anatomy and physiology. signs and symptoms of diseases can be specifically traced to what has gone wrong with the normal anatomy and physiology. you might find it helpful to open up, copy and use my critical thinking flow sheet for nursing students for each disease you are given to study. if you are having difficulty completing the signs and symptoms or pathophysiology, use the weblinks on this thread to help you. emedicine articles and the merck manual generally have the pathophysiology and signs and symptoms of almost all the major diseases. family practice notebook will list the medical treatments for most major diseases as well.
