Request for Nursing License

I am an RN and recently went on an interview and knew I was required to show my nursing license. I showed them the one I keep in my wallet, but they told me, no, they need "the large one." My diploma? No, they said, the large license, not your wallet one.

I went home and looked through my documents, and don't see (or recall) any large license. Am I losing my mind? Help!!

    I have no idea why they would want this. Some states no longer even issue a paper license and it must be verified online.

    That doesn't make sense to me either.... Is there any way to ask someone else in that office? Maybe the person who said that was confused....:confused:

    Connecticut issues me a 'large' (its around 5in x 3in) license and two wallet sized ones. Maybe that is the 'large' one they are talking about? Have no idea why they want the large one it has the exact same info as the small one. Both my large and small both look exactly the same with the exception of one being bigger than the other.

    My employeer required the license but didn't care if it was the larger or wallet sized one. They were also able to verify my licensure online since I was hired prior to having my license in hand.

    I should also mention that I live in New Jersey. I just don't want to be searching for something that doesn't even exist! I guess I should call the Board of Nursing today.

    it may be that this hr person isn't familiar c the way your state does licenses or that licenses from most states can be checked online thru nursys. i am licensed in a bunch of states-- i get a plastic credit-card-like thing from one, wallet cards from a few others, and two don't issue me anything but a receipt for payment with the advice that the online site will confirm active licensure. oh, and the smallest state (ri) issued me a huge, huge fancy thing with gold letters and ornate lettering. it's so cool looking i have it up on my wall.

    little state syndrome perhaps..haha..(waving howdy from the small state to ri's west (tax you to death ct is where i call home)
