Relocationing

Hi, Everyone

I am finally set to relocation to Tucson in about two weeks, and I was wundering what type of advice all of you native tucsonians have for me; such as, things that I should be particularly aware of. I am from california so I know things are very different here. Thanks.

Welcome to Tucson!

First off, we had a very rainy summer. It was great, but now we are dealing with the consequences of that with allergies.

October 13-15 is Tucson Meet Yourself. All the cultural groups that live in Tucson get together and show off what they consider the best of their culture. The end result is a lot of yummy food!

Where are you from in Cali? Was the temperature and climate similiar to Southern Az?

Have you chosen a place to work yet? I'm familiar with most of the hospitals in this town. I think I remember you were thinking about St Marys or the VA???

I will be starting at St. Mary's in a few weeks. The temperature over the summers was about 88 degrees here in san diego so it wasn't to bad. We're

pretty excited about the move were just wrapping up a few loose ends.

There are TONS of threads related to this topic, do a search and I'm sure you'll find a bunch of great info. Good luck to you!! :)

Hi, CardiacRN2006

I agree san diego is a very nice place, I've been here since I was 3yrs old, but I am ready for a change. I just graduated from RN school and I can't even afford a house here. The median price of a house here is around 550,000.

welcome to tucson..... i work at s joes and it's a pretty great place. lots of new things planned for the future.

welcome again.

Hi, ky007rn

Thanks so much for the warm thoughts, I'm sure I will love tucson.

mean price for housing in Tucson isn't much better.

Tucson has a lot of outdoor recreation opportunities as does Phoenix. If you're young and like night life, there are a lot of college bars around campus along 4th. If you're older, then there's not a lot in the way of night life. Lots of restaurants, not so great shopping.

Well, Tucson is indeed expensive, but in no way is it near San Diego in housing prices!

I agree about the nightlife/shopping. Sigh...

eugenia, let us know when you get here and what you think!

You will love the mountain views, but watch out for the "Javelinas" :welcome:
