Where are you now? Have you registered with APHRA yet?

I am currently based in the UK and I would like to initiate the registration process if I find a sponsor who is willing to assist with relocation expenses

I know some country hospitals were last year offering sponsorship for registered nurses but part of the sponsorship was not full re-location airfares etc for all the family. It was up to the sponsored nurse to save and pay for the family airfares and find their own accommodation. There maybe the odd offer if you are highly qualified in some area needed at a hospital and they cannot fill it locally.

You do not say if you are a nurse/with any experience specialty.

Maybe some nursing agencies have contacts, pulse and others may be able to help. they often advertise that they pay for re-location for families, but to pay and sponsor for families to travel out here, may be hard to find without much experience/specialty.

I think Royal Melbourne had some sort of nurse drive in the UK and Monash Medical (Southern Health) want to sponsor midwives.

As for working and living in Queensland, join the que. This is a very popular place to visit and work try googling queensland hospitals and see how you go just to find work.

Thanx a lot for the infor Ceridwyn ,after reading your comments and some of the post from other people and some from my collegues i now realise that some hospitals /agencies do sponsor but not all of them and I have to search for those that do sponsor.Iam an orthopeadic nurse at a huge hospital here in the UK and would like to continue in the orthopeadic field.I however would like to find out which other areas i could look at if queensland is so popular. What about Melbourne i just want somewhere with a low cost of living.

been in contact with several agencies that recruits nurses for Aus. according to them, it's difficult now to find a hospital that is willing to give full relocation. If there are any, these are for positions that are based on the countryside.

well, it makes sense, if and only if you have a speciality that cannot be filled locally are they (hospital) going to pay a lot of money for a nurse to come here, not alone the whole family. No country is desperate for nurses anymore.

Hospitals may sponsor - guarantee work for 2 -4 years, give temporary accommodation but thats about it, though not many do this now.

Third hand, have heard a very experienced ICU nurse was sponsored from the UK for an in charge position, but she had to pay for her family and was only given temporary accommodation for 3 months that was deducted from her pay.
