  1. australiannursing.net which is based in England from what I've heard, was looking for specialty nurses specifically ITU nurses to be deployed in a Veterans Hospital. They will file about 30 nurses for premium processing to make the process faster. Not sure though if they did at this time...worth giving them a call.
  2. been in contact with several agencies that recruits nurses for Aus. according to them, it's difficult now to find a hospital that is willing to give full relocation. If there are any, these are for positions that are based on the countryside.
  3. to qualify for Australian licensure, foreign nurse applicant must pass the IELTS, scoring at least a 7 on each category.
  4. whether it's used as a noun or as a verb, hype is not the right word. it doesn't make sense. what she meant was height which could also mean peak. to edit her post, i think what she's trying to say is..Is Australia really the best choice considering that we are at the height of the global economic crisis ? no need to hype up the current economic situation 'cause it's already a reality. :D:D LMAO
  5. not sure about nursing homes....normally residential or nursing homes doesn't need acute care or specialty nurses. A managerial position perhaps but they still have to follow the Department of Labor guidelines before petitioning a foreign nurse.
  6. There was this agency based in the UK who recruited nurses for the US on an H1B visa. They should have at least two years experience in a specialty area and have their VSC on hand. Basically, they are trying to recruit those nurses who are under retrogression. I knew a lot of nurses who went for it and the agency maybe out of their eagerness (i don't want to say, greed) took in even those whose not in a specialty unit. To cut the long story short, only 3 out of the 40 application was approved. The rest was RFE or outright denied. All the efforts of the nurses compiling their paperworks and getting certified for Florida where the employers are based, gone to waste.
  7. Not dousing water on your hopes but i can't really understand how your employer can petition you without at least a U.S. nursing license. That's the first thing employers/lawyers asks from prospective employees before they start the process of H1B. You've also mentioned that your petitioner is based in California which makes it even more difficult since they are now asking for SSN before you can apply for licensure. Another thing is that, staff nurse position for a nursing home is not really considered to be a specialty occupation so it will take a lot of convincing before the consul will approve the petition. But Good Luck anyway and do keep us posted here.
  8. it will be a good idea to contact your employers/agencies at this time to check the status of your application especially those with PD's of 2005.
  9. So much for the present government's promise of protecting the NHS. They are not sacking staff but they are not hiring either. Nurses are already overworked and overstretched as it is...
  10. after you take out the 40% tax, your travel fare and your lunch... it's not really worth the trouble. but sometimes, you have to do it bec. of the high cost of living in the UK. and it's going nowhere but up once the 20% V.A.T. takes effect by January.
  11. Kabayan...be thankful with what you've got. Unemployment rate in the U.S. presently is around 10% so a lot of people are suffering whilst you moan about not getting enough challenge which to me sounds so ungrateful. You can always go for other roles in your workplace but the question is..Does your superiors think your qualified for those roles ???? I used to wonder where the resentment towards foreign (pinoy) nurses are coming from when I first joined here...but now I think I know the answer.
  12. hope for the best but expect the worst....
  13. is it to late to activate your union membership? you will need representation in case the problem goes further. good luck.
  14. i'm not sure what's going to happen on your visa interview when they ask you for your VSC and you've got nothing to present them, Hope it won't lead to another set of delays.
