Hi several years ago I applied to California for my nursing licence, I met their requirements and I passed the NCLEX first time. Unfortunately at the same time CA changed the requirements and to get my full licence I needed to get a social security number. As I am a UK citizen and I also trained in the UK. I was stuck in a catch 22 situation, I could get a SSN without a job and couldn't get a job due to the current immigration backlog. So last year California binned my file (after 3 years). I had all my documents including proof I passed my NCLEX) stored with CGFNS. The Californian board of nursing had to confirm this in writing, it didn't come from myself. So my main question is will I have to sit the NCLEX again or will another state accept the documents that are stored with CFGNS? I am currently working in Canada and I still hope to move down to the US at some point. Also any advice regarding visa's would also be of great help. I'm an ICU/CVICU with over 10 years experience. thanks

No I didn't take any courses I had a book, but never studied.

I passed in BC, I got my results on Wednesday 12th March. I'm an international nurse from the UK been working on a provisional licence since July 2013 and I passed in my first attempt.

I registered with the board of nursing in CA prior to their new requirements of having a SSN before registering. As far as I am aware they will grant me a temporary licence to enable me to get emplyment and then I have to obtain a SSN as soon as I can when in CA to get my full licence. In regards to the previous post I am UK born and bred, so I would need a UK based agency.

It may be wrong to tell you guys this but the UK the recommendations are that vent, CRRT, IABP all 1:1 even if they are not sedated. Any HDU/ward patient can be 1:2 but normally on my unit 1:1. Any patient on ECMO/VAD are always strictly 2:1, with once of these being an experiences and trained ECMO specialist....Tell me again why I want to move to USA!!!

Hi I am an British trained RN. I have worked as an RN in ITU for the last 6 1/2 years and also as an ECMO specialist. I am registered with the board of nursing in CA (just waiting for SSN) and should have my visa screen through within the next 3- 4 weeks. I am looking for an agency (or employer) that is will to sponsor me on the H1b visa in CA, can anyone help?

HI I wear the crocs specialist work shoes they have no holes in the amd they are anti static and also have a slight raised lip at the back to keep your foot in place. You wouldn't catch me wearing anything else to work!!!
