My wife and I are both RNs and are considering relocating to AZ from WA. Any nurses out there know how difficult it is to transfer our licenses from Washington to Arizona?

It is actually fairly easy to get a license in Arizona. I came here from Washington in 2006 and found it relatively easy. However, a lot of hospitals in the Phoenix area are on hiring freezes right now due to the economy so I would make sure you have a job before you relocate.
We're in no hurry. My wife has Seasonal Affective Disorder. We just don't want to spend another dark cold wet winter in the Pacific Northwest. Forks is only 3 hours north of us, where all the vampires lived in the Twilight books. She may have exagerated but not much. My wife loves the southwest, and spent three years in Arizona before she met me. She wants somewhere warmer dryer and sunnier.

There are jobs if you are experienced. You can even get a little relocation money. Try Banner.

I'm over here in NW Montana. Just got an AZ license and it took 3-4 wks. You should have NO trouble getting a job in AZ. I think I looked at almost all the hospitals in the state. Try looking at: http://www.theagapecenter.com/Hospitals/Arizona.htm - list of Arizona hospitals - not all of them. Also look at: http://www.city-data.com/forum/ - Can give you an idea about a community or hospital if you want to research it. Moving to Arizona in June. Getting flown down to one hospital that I am considering at the end of the month. If I can help, let me know. Good luck and hope you get to move!
