Rejection

I am just about finished with this 3 month CNA program and I applied to the hospital where they hold our clinicals and they just emailed me saying "thanks, but no thanks" to spell it short. I mean I met all the requirements. Experience was preferred but not required. Thought since the floor/unit I applied to was the floor/unit I have worked these past few weeks that would help but nada ? not sure what my next step should be. No other hospitals in the area are really hiring and I live in CT so NY isn't an option either. GRRR wish I knew what to do next...

I am sorry that you did not get the job, but for CNAs hospital jobs can be hard to get. I would look at other places like LTC, Retirement Homes, Hospice(sometimes), Home Care (which I work and love it) Rehab Facilities just to give you a few ideas where CNAs work. I am sure there will be a job out there for you. Just don't think that hospitals are the only avenue out there for you. Good Luck

Regardless what you see on TV the job market remains abysmal.

Work at a LTC center for six months and then reapply at the hospital.

In my case, I worked at a LTC for two years before I was able to get hired at a hospital.

I agree with Mayt.

work as a CNA for at least 6 months to get experience. I would think in a nursing home would be the best type of experience but there is always homecare and assisted living, both of which typically pay less than nursing homes.
