ADVICE PLEASE
Agreed. Going to start looking at the local places for work. And the positions here at the hospitals are PCT (your EKG certified within the walls of the hospital) clinician assistant which is basically ER CNA and nursing assistant on the med/surg and oncology/hospice floor.

ADVICE PLEASE
I am a new CNA in the state of Connecticut. I am also looking to pursue my RN so the health care setting is where I want to be (I.e. hospital) been applying to the local hospitals left and right but getting no responses back which is very depressing when you have high hopes like me that they'll hire you (I'm a 23 y/o male, very strong and athletic, bi-lingual, and a very great team player). My much need advice is this: should I hold onto my current job with great pay and benefits at a bank until a hospital gets back to me or opens a new position OR should I swallow my pride and apply to some of the local LTC and HHA agencies around town?

Officially a c.n.a. Today!!!
Today was my graduation and I am now an official certified nurses aide!!! The course was 3 months through an accredited community college course so no need to take a state exam :) I made it

Rejection
I am just about finished with this 3 month CNA program and I applied to the hospital where they hold our clinicals and they just emailed me saying "thanks, but no thanks" to spell it short. I mean I met all the requirements. Experience was preferred but not required. Thought since the floor/unit I applied to was the floor/unit I have worked these past few weeks that would help but nada ? not sure what my next step should be. No other hospitals in the area are really hiring and I live in CT so NY isn't an option either. GRRR wish I knew what to do next...

How to start a new resume in nursing?
Would anyone out there know or have any suggestions on how I should build my new résumé to have it geared more towards nursing? I will be done with my CNA course this May and will be looking for work immediately after. I don't have much background work in medicine. I've been a sales manager for 2 years and now work at a bank as a PB. I am however certified in adult/infant/toddler CPR/AED as well as first aid all through the American Heart Association. Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone

Thoughts
I am nearly done with my CNA program (it's proving to be simpler than I thought thus far, we start actual clinical work next week though) I was wondering what were people's thoughts on what to do with the certification once its acquired. I live in Connecticut and they allow CNAs in hospitals. Not sure if I should go that route or try giving the LTC life a try. Suggestions? I do plan on completing my pre reqs and applying to local nursing programs in the near future. 23 y/o male so I think I have the energy for it lol Open to any and all feedback out there. Thanks everyone in advance :)

Need affirmation :(
Thank you guys soo much. Really needed that. I find that I can grasp the applied concepts of the course no problem (bed making, bedpans etc.) because in lab it's pretty hands on and since there are only a few of us men in the course I find that I try appealing to the instructor more by voulenteering for examples and asking/answering general questions. I really hope to become an RN someday and I know this is the core stuff that'll get me to that goal. Guess I really just need to take it one day at a time :) I wish us all the best of luck because I know that as nursing team members we'll be awesome!!!

Need affirmation :(
Hey guys, I'm on week 3 of my 12 week CNA program and idk if its because I'm working full time and doing this class but I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed >_
-
Anatomy & Physiology 1!!!
normally you'll have a text book for lecture (the physiology part) then you'll have a work book (the anatomy part) for the lab. As far as the class itself goes, LOTS OF ENERGY DRINKS and STUDY GROUPS lol

CNA Help!!!
You can do it!!! I actually just started my first day of a 12 week CNA program. Managing to pull two jobs along with it. Where there is a will there is a way :)

Don't Know What to Do
Agreed, just try watering down that resume a bit and I'm sure everything will work out :)
-
Does it get better?
Hey turtlecat, hang in there!!! I'm no CNA yet but I hope to get through my course in the coming months to become one. I am sure you have what it takes, you just need to break through the new job jitters and you'll be great. All the best to you :)

Interview tomorrow
Yikes!!! I live in CT and I'm taking my CNA course in two weeks. Hopefully once I'm finished the job markets a little better over here as well. And here's hoping that you find something great too. All the best to everyone =)
