Reflect on this! IMPORTANT!!

Dunno why. At my school, you had to make an 850 or above on your HESI just to move onto the next class. And the people who didn't make that were the ones who weren't safe, imo. At first I thought it was harsh, but then I looked at who I wouldn't want taking care of me, and the results sort of correlated. Plus, the subjects I got under a 1000 on, were ones I went back and studied. It helps you, I think.

They got rid of the HESI at my school a few years ago. We don't use it for entrance exam and we don't use it for exit, either. Instead, we have a proctored ATI assessment at the end of the semesters, which the school feels is more beneficial since it's less stress inducing than something like the HESI. The ATI doesn't make or break you, it's simply an assessment of your knowledge of materials at the end of each semester, and prior to moving on to the next semester, any areas where you were weak, you have to do a remediation.

Hey - cut this RN a break! Anyone who has survived nursing school know's what she is talking about! You think she is ramped up - she deserves to be. She (I am assuming it is a she) got good enough grades to graduate and we have all been there with the 'critical thinking" questions that make absolutely no sense. We have 4 choices for an answer one is usually obviously wrong and the other 3 could be justified if it weren't for "critical thinking" give us a chance to get out into the working world and let's see how well we all critically think. Just because she is ticked and is passionate enough to show it on here doesn't mean she would have a terrible bed side manner. I think it means she cares.[/quote']

A couple of things I feel the need to point out: First, the OP is NOT an RN until he/she passes the NCLEX RN. Second, it is clear from perusing many threads on here that not all nursing schools prepare their students to the same standards. Some schools graduate students who are ill prepared to pass NCLEX OR function as a nurse even with in depth orientation. We need a standardized test to serve a gateway to practice otherwise people who attended less than stellar schools or just scraped by will end up caring for patients when they are not equipped to do so safely.

Somebody with a brain, at last! Gosh! I thought what I had written was so simple to understand! Apparently it was more difficult than passing the NCLEX-RN!!! I am sure they are not perfect despite their subtle disgusting disputes. You're out there to take care of people not to praise yourselves RNs. Get over it! You're childish!

It is a positive adjective, but when used sarcastically, not grammatically, which is what the OP did, it can be perverted into a negative.

This is the most uncalled for and rude post. You are NOT a nurse. Clearly YOU are your problem because 90% of people pass this the first time. You are angry because you failed but that doesn't mean you are correct. Profanity is also unnecessary and "childish"

You would have loved the old days when they had 2 day marathons for testing.
